Status : Offline | ****** Just seen a delightful TV programme on the 'History' of European Song Festivals. ****** It was a local 90 minute program covering the saga of Eurovisions The dialogues were in Hebrew but the songs themselves of course were not (apart from the 3 songs which Israel won - "A-ba-ni-bi" and the following year "Halleluyah" and Dana International's "Viva Victoria"). ****** Over the many years there have been very many very fine songs (and of course even more not so fine !!). ****** Of them all,abe the most outstanding was the Swedish "ABBA's" winning "Waterloo" - not necessarily for the song itslf but because it launched the career of one of the (several) best pop groups of the 20th century. ****** What a pity they broke up after such a relatively short time. But they nearly all do so - with just a few exceptions - even the Beatles ! ------------------------------------- This year's competition takes place inn Baku in about 6 weeks time !
