2012 is shaping up nicely for some movies, some great looking ones coming out this spring/summer along with some coming out on dvd/blu ray.

The main movie I can't wait to see is Prometheus. It's Ridley Scotts return to sci fi (Alien, Blade Runner) and is a prequel to Alien, at least what most people assume because of various bits of info/the trailers (weyland corp, Space Jockey, etc).

Most recent trailer:

Then there's yet another vampire flick coming this year, but not a teen focused love fest...

Other movies coming this year that I can think of:

The Avengers

The Hunger Games

The Dark Knight Rises (can't wait for this one)

Expendables 2 (first one was kinda meh, but Arnold is gonna be a major role in it and Chuck freaking Norris along with Jean Claude finally getting on board! ( I grew up watching these guys in the late 80's/early 90's so I hope it's better then the last one)

Men In Black III

Battleship (based on the board game.......but now with Aliens! guess they had to invent something for it to work lol)

The Three Stooges (meh, I don't know about this one, It's the farrelly brothers - who did Dumb and Dumber/Something about mary, but it doesn't look like they have the right people for the parts except for Will Sasso playing Curly)

Spdier man reboot (did we REALLY need this? I mean really? The Sam Rami ones aren't even old! and it looks fine even for today, first two were good movies)

The Hobbit (In Dec, really really looking forward to it)

I saw The Artist before the oscars and told everyone I knew that while it was pleasant, it was also predictable and a tad too long and in my opinion wasn't good enough for an oscar.  What do I know, eh?

However, I'm looking forward the Marigold movie with Judi Dench in it (no, I can't be bothered googling the name so you won't know I can't remember it) and I was looking forward to Prometheus until I read it was a prequel to Alien.  I stopped watching that movie half way through because it TERRIFIED THE BEJESUS out of me and I didn't watch the rest of the series.  I love sci-fi but I can't cope with horror.....

I can't wait for The Hobbit. I'm following every bit of news (  http://www.theonering.net/   ) with slavering delight. Not much else comes close to it. Dark Shadows is a far second, having watched the first season of this soap opera in the 70's.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to  of season 2 of Game of Thrones, just a few short weeks away.

So that means you haven't even watched Aliens? Don't be such a fraidy cat!

Those are two of the best Sci Fi films ever. Alien was focused more on suspsense with Aliens being much more "action" packed but both great in their own regard.

Just watch it with a bunch of choclate to cope

Oooo!  You have some good titles listed there, Stiler!  I loved the first two Alien movies the best (3 and 4 did not have the same level of suspense for me), so I'll definitely see Prometheus.  From the trailer, it looks like that giant space jockey in that organic ship (from the first movie) appears again.  Maybe we'll find out more about his origins.  I'm really looking forward to The Hobbit, too, and that Lincoln: Vampire Hunter looks intriguing.

Glad I'm not the only one! I couldn't wait for it to finish. And just to make sure it wasn't only my dislike of B&W silent films, after I saw it I watched some Charlie Chaplin movies and found them highly entertaining.

That, sans Dark Shadows.  I.E.  Hobbit and GOT.

Dark Knight Rises?  Will look into it.

Oooh, MIB3!  Yay!

The Hunger Games looks interesting.  I want to see Hugo before that vanishes too.

Im looking forward to the Hunger games, I'll wait a few weeks for the hoopla to die down and then head out to see it. I hate sitting in a packed theater.

I really enjoyed the first 2 books and will have to buy the 3rd for my nook here in the next few days.
