The full-scale retreat of the AG market has made me gaze upon my warchest of un-started and un-finished games with renewed respect and enthusiasm. Until the next Outcry comes along, or the upcoming Barrow Hill 2, what should I do? Finish games I started but never completed? Crack open something I never really gave a chance? I think it's time. Here is the short-list of AGs that I'm embarassed even thinking I never got around to finishing or even starting:

SPQR - about halfway done. Loved it but got caught up in the never ending stream of great AGs seemingly popping up in stores on a daily basis during the mid-late 90's.

Bad Mojo - likewise only halfway across the river. Great experience up to that point... and don't mind the 3rd person cockroach POV.

Bad Day on the Midway - Not sure how far I really got with this trippy surreal open-ended story, but I need to get back and find out. Playing BDotM today you realize just how personal and individualistic AGs could be back in the day - far more nuance artistically, stylistically, thematically, and musically. Much more 'hand of the artist' than so much of our current engine driven productions. Some current indies begin to manipulatte the medium with a similar open-mindedness.

The Last Express - twiddled around with it, but like many novels lying around the apartment I've simply been waiting patiently for the day I'll pick it up and read/play cover to cover...

The Neverhood - During an upgrade I lost my savegame moree than three-quarters the way through this gem. I became somewhat dispirited and jumped on lower-lying fruit on offer in the stores to soften the blow. Problem is I never jumped back in, so it looks like a fresh restart is the only option. I'm astounded I haven't already as I consider it one of my all time favorites.

The Dark Eye - Very cool, but stopped at a deadend, that was a very heavy deadend. Decided at the time to simply appreciate the experience rather than forge ahead - now I should regain the trail and see where it leads.

Grim Fandango - Love hate relationship with this one. An early encounter with the 3rd person shattered my sense of immersion in a game I otherwise found brilliant and beguiling. I must try to push further on, but my track record with pushing an avatar around the screen in not promising. Fabulous production.

Morpheus - I didn't get this until years after release so maybe it shouldn't go on this list. Captivating classic point and click is installed and ready to go on the W98 legacy box.

If I can get these done I will no longer have to list any unfinished games as personal favorites..

EDIT: I'm curious what others have at the top of their To Do List.

The Neverhood should be an easy one to complete, as far as i remember it was a rather short but wonderful game.

The Dark Eye is among my favourites, i loooove Poe.

I bought a few new AG's lately, but i haven't really started any of them: The next big thing, Runaway 3 and both Loath Nolder games

The Last Express is a very different game, you need to be in the right mood to play it. But it is, out of the games on your list, the one that I think is the best. It is a really good game, with a lot of interesting ideas. It would be interesting to see something liket hat done today, with more fluid animations and free movement rather than node-based movement.

Bad mojo is quite high on my list of gamest that I should finish. It has a lot of novel concepts, I just got sidetracked last time I tried to play it.

I started it and got so frustrated from trying to manoeuvre the cockroach and figuring out where to go and what to do I quit pretty fast.

The game is still installed, but the inspiration to meet the bug again hasn't occured yet.
