Billed as a "classic board game," DHSGIT plays like a kind of casual RPG in which you first asemble your party (who are a cadre of 1920's high school "mean girls") and then go through numerous "battles" while solving a series of mysteries that plague their home town of Brigiton. The battles don't involve sword-and-sorcery, but rather consist of insult swordfighting, liar's poker, and other such mini-games.
Though DHSGIT definitely finishes with a rather dark edge, the majority of the game was whimsical and charming in the extreme. There was some frustration at about the 85% mark when I had to spend nearly 2 hours replaying a three-round insult battle over and over. But that was my own fault for not collecting enough taunts and retorts earlier in the game.
You can get the demo for DHSGIT from the Mousechief website. If you purchase the full game from Mousechief, it's $19.99. It is also available from Steam for $9.99. HOWEVER, Steam has it on sale for only $6.99 until Jan. 2. I spent well over 20 hours playing the game, which made it a real bargain at that price.
