Keen Software House announced today a new project: Miner Wars 2.5D, a fast-paced arcade game inspired by the classic game Tuneller. Miner Wars 2.5D is slated to release on the PC in January of 2012., with the other platforms following in February/March.
In Miner Wars 2.5D, players control a mining ship and venture through an underground labyrinth of pathways, old abandoned mines, asteroids and military bases. The environment will be fully destructable, and the player is not expected to use existing pathways, but to make their own with their ship's equipment. Each player has a home base which functions as their spawn point and a place to recharge energy and restore the ship's armor. The goal of the player is to simply eliminate the competition through conventional weapons or utilizing the terrain.
Players in Miner Wars 2.5D can either go online against other players or the AI or try out the full single-player campaign of 15 unique missions with various objectives, from search and destroy to mining and tunneling goals. Each game is expected to last around 5 to 10 minutes each. With many settings to change the rules for campaign and skirmish battles, replayability is set to high for Miner Wars 2.5D.
The full features of Miner Wars 2.5D include:
Fully Destructible Environment
Fast Adrenaline Action Set in Miner Wars™ Universe
Skirmish Mode with Multiplayer Support
15 Levels’ Singleplayer Campaign
Up-to 4 Players Multiplayer
Various Power-Ups and Upgrades
