A video of an interesting project, the recreation of the Titanic for the Cryengine. The developers call it a work in progress, but I think it looks pretty amazing as is:
Cryengine is an engine i use for some of my research and it is one of the best, it can do remarkable things and the shader set is one of the best too. Crytek remains one of the leading high detail game developers.
I haven't watched either video all the way through, but what I did see looked very impressive indeed.
On the latter: I don't remember Monkey Island 2 very clearly, I fear, but I didn't think that it was that dark in tone; I seem to recall it seeming less serious, and a quick look at somescreenshots on MobyGames does seem to support this.
that is a cool Monkey Island concept idea, that person sure put some good work into it. It is a really good engine, very solid and easy to work with, using the SandBox editor i have been working on a 3D world for some six years and adding elements as i progress.
It is a game prototype, i have actually managed to get it to work pretty well, with a story line, full action in game characters you both play as and with...and nice natural effects...just have not had much time to work on it for some time...and it is just me.
I will try to capture some video on there when i have time...
Ah, I see - I look forward to seeing or hearing more of it! ^_^
(By the way, have you ever looked at the Unity engine? I've worked with it, as I recall, and believe that I found it to be a wonderful engine to work with.)
Yes, wonderful work there, CrisGer. I'd love to see video footage as well. And when you have a playable demo or something along those lines ready to go, please let us know.
OK and will do. I have all the animations and in game mechanics worked out pretty well so far, just adding dialog and triggers and story elements at this point and of course constantly adding to the landscape as it takes forever to do a full world with sprites and sound cells and so forth esp as there is dynamic wildlife in the world.
Unity is a great engine, i also considered the Quake engine but Cryengine is so nice for natural looking worlds...
Farnaim Wake - Far Horizons...adventure with elements of FPS, puzzle and mystery..... an archepelogo of islands in a alternative world, very simliar to earth, modern day, but with mystical overtones.... explore, solve puzzles, advance along several plot lines, battle foes with companions, you can also fly, swim and ride in boats..... and there are multiple life forms, animals, birds and some nasty critters hidden in the mix...
also some cool ruins, and lost civlilzations...just about everything to warm an adventurers heart
it may have both first person and third person view, and full sound and music... we will see
here are some pics of the in game characters, Blaze and Amanda...
and a pic of the Editor Working Window for the Sandbox where you build things with the engine...
