Anyway...

This is simply to let you know that I will be running a trivia contest in the spirit of the ones we had here. There is an interesting prize however, which is TEN codes of Scratches Director's Cut (Steam version) for the Top 10 winners.

Since this is "unofficial", in a sense that it's a small scale contest and not attached to a company, I will be hosting it myself through Facebook and Twitter. If the experiment is successful enough, there could be bigger things in the horizon!

This is a contest in the tradition of trivia games played in many forums. Each day a small part of a screenshot is posted. Participants must send me by *message* the name of the game. Winners are determined by score (see Rules below for further details).

The Top 10 winners get each one a Steam code for the brand new Scratches Director's Cut edition. That plus fame and glory.

Ye Olde Rules:

----------------------

1) Only commercial adventure games will be used. Ten in total, therefore ten days of trivia.

2) The trivia can be played through Facebook and Twitter all the same. Everything will be posted twice on both networks, including correct guesses and winners.

3) Images will become increasingly more difficult.

4) Only in-game scenes are used (no cutscenes, inventory screens, etc).

5) Participants must send me by message (Facebook) or direct message (Twitter) their guesses. Do NOT post/tweet your guesses publicly!

6) Each successful guess gives ONE point, so no weird math is involved. Maximum score is 10. Timing of correct guesses is considered in the final ranking.

7) Each participant gets THREE tries. I will personally respond with Wrong or Correct. As soon as humanly possible, that is. And don't get chit-chatty.

9) Keep in mind that images have been resampled (enlarged) so they may not be 100% faithful to the actual game.

10) Ye who posts spoilers will be disqualified and publicly shamed.

Finally, you're encouraged to play even if you couldn't care less about Scratches or already own the game. If this is the case, the code will be given to another participant. Have fun!

Maybe you can open a Twitter account. It's very simple and you don't need to share any personal details.

Hmmm.....what Lady K. said. Though I might consider a Twitter account if it doesn't have the potential headaches Facebook does.

Ah, I see you're there already. Twitter is great, very clean and you can easily opt out anytime you want. You have many folks from the adventure game community that you can follow as well.

TweetDeck is one of the better clients for Windows. For Mac you have the official client and Twitterrific.

Do you need to have a cell phone for twitter?

Not at all. Twitter gets some time getting used to but, of all the social networks, it certainly is the coolest one.

There are ten codes for the Top 10 players, I'd say everybody has a good chance! I don't expect a large number of participants.

I have a question about Twitter.  I see that they ask for a full name when you are registering, which I assume becomes your user name.  I would prefer to use Lady Kestrel rather than my real name.  Can this be done?

It's nice that you're posting the screenies here too, you handsome thing you. 

I had decided to abandon my facebook account long ago already,- just too much clutter with mindless junk from contacts  (I have a few young cousins 

..but trivia games are always fun!

Scratches is really one of my top games.  The creep factor was similar to Dark Fall - wandering the halls of the Dowerton hotel - very spooky!

Hugs to you old forum friend!  Too bad I am not into the social networks - would be almost worth it just to play your game. ;-)
