Actually... talking of which.. when is one supposed to turn Guild Master?  Was it 3 000 or 3 500 posts..  ? I've been wondering if those ranks haven't also gone wonky, because if Inland really has more than 5 000 he should have surely been a Grand Inquisitor by now.  I don't actually remember if I turned one last time at 5 000 or 6 000 posts, but anyway, we'll soon see, if anyone gets promoted, I guess.  I 've been away this week, but I had a good giggle at this thread now.      ...;  that silliness website fits in nicely with this thread - check it out.

This is a non-deletable, post-count test.

Before = 6,517

After = 6,518

Cheers, Terry

Your link to silliness isn't working for me, Trav.  It's a good thing we've got more than our share here.

Edit:  I think Guild Master happens at 3500.

Can we change Grand Inquisitor to something less threatening?

Also, I don't want to go back to being a pretentious JA+ Overseer when my lost post count is eventually restored / re-achieved.

We're just volunteer worker bees toiling in the forum word factory, not overseers.

Matter of fact, I think we should do away with forum rankings.

A simple post count and date joined are all that's needed to indicate "seniority" or whatever people want to read into such stats.

Cheers, Terry

P.S.

Unlike the Administrator and Forum Staff designations, which serve an important purpose, the member rankings are not necessary and they range from a bit belittling to kind of pompous.

Well it was Aya who presided over the last change which saw these forum rankings created.  And before that the only icon we  had was stars.  Remember how Sir Funky would always beg Val to keep his stars to just two?   And I understood the rankings were meant to invoke certain adventure games.

But maybe it's time to refresh that aspect of the forum.  If the powers that be decide to call for suggestions may I suggest Mighty Pirate as a serious contender.

Possibly we could be given a choice of title?

Heh.  I'm not sure being a Larry is better than being an Intergalactic Janitor, Inland.

I like the ranks here, simply because they are adventure oriented.  Over at Mystery Manor, all the ranks are ghostly and a newbie is Recently Deceased for the first 10 posts.  I remember one poor lady being a bit upset by that, maybe because her health wasn't so good.  It didn't take her long to become a Restless Spirit.
