What operating system are you using Elliot? Broken Sword IV doesn't work with Vista or Win7.

Not at all? I had heard BS 4 is often a huge pain to play on those systems, but not impossible.

Probably not impossible, I remember trying to change my settings to reflect a single core processor per recommendations but with no luck, still got the blacked out characters.

Anyhow, forget what I said. For first time buyers it's really easy, GOG to the rescue!

I do have a quad core on win 7. That stinks. We just got Deponia behind the scenes, so maybe I'll give that a shot it looks hilarious, and Daedelic seems to put out some really good stuff. I'll try to play and post an opinion before it releases so you know if it's as good as it looks.

Finishing up some games that were never finished years ago - Myst V End of Ages and now have begun Uru Complete Chronicles. They may be cliche' but the Myst series certainly have "something". Downloaded J.U.L.I.A. but just couldn't get into it at this time. Also, slowly(!) downloading Runaway 3. Someday will start back Grey Matter (lost a HD and didn't backup my saves).

Didn't know there was a BS 4. Need more hours in a day! And a smaller house.

A single-core based PC of XP vintage is coming fast onto the 'retro rig' horizon. Older systems like DOS and Win9x are desireable for retro gaming for obvious reasons, but before you know it, keeping a single core/32-bit OS box around will be an easier solution than the myriad of virtual machines, patches, fixes, cludges and work-arounds that are required to get many 2k era games running... Just keep a neat stack of PCs in the closet.. sorta like sweater boxes but not quite....

This is one of the better games I have ever played. It's hilarious I cannot stop myself from laughing everytime I play it. I am not sure if he will get out of the dump, but he sure is having some great adventures trying to. I give this game an A+. It's defiantly worth your time and money. I can't wait to see what other people say once it releases next week. If you liked BoUT then your really going to enjoy this one as well, although it is more challenging than BoUT, the story is really great and captivating.

I already have the collection. I have an old win 98 machine, a few XP, a vista and my pride and joy I have an original iMac the one that had the handle. I love that thing and especially after reading the Steve Job's bio and knowing the story behind the handle it's really nice to have that piece of computing history. Plus it's got the original Oregon Trail on it. :0

Ok so somehow Deponia is available ahead of time and you can grab it and play the trial from us only. So if your thinking about pre-ordering or already have then seriously get it beore they make us take it down.

Finally finished Book of Unwritten Tales. I got my niece to get me through that horrible QTE (the "Rain Dance") . I would have thought this to be a great game but the QTE ruined it for me.

Recently finished Captain Morgane. This is the type of AG I like. Even the exagerated gestures didn't bother me much. And the action/mini-games were entirely optional and could be skipped without penalty.

Now I'm playing Deponia. I'm only a few hours into the game but really liking it so far.

Oh how I despised that silly mini-game. Horrible. The tiny arrow keys and my clumsy fingers made it impossible. Luckily I read in another forum how it was possible to by-pass that foolishness and continue the game. That worked for me.

Now I'm playing Full Throttle for the FIRST time.

The Rain Dance wasn't THAT hard. The rest of the game however was a predictable ride through fantasy cliches, with shallow characters I got tired of after hearing a few lines from them.

Captain Morgane was an abomination. I'm embarassed for anyone who played that game as their first taste of adventure games. Simplistic, cartoony and mindless.

I liked Deponia. It was a bit silly but at least it had some level of personality. It was too easy but I liked it.

Finally thinking of playing something adventure-ish in the near future.  I've haven't decided what to pull off the shelves first...maybe Ankh or Sterling's gift. Other than that I am finishing an umpteenth time play of Zelda:Windwaker. I still love it

Played some of chapter 5 in the Black Mirror (first game in series) and all of chapter 3 of Gray Matter today. Was originally too lazy to, but the Queen pushed me (actually a gentle nudge).

Ouch.

I just finished the game and I did think the Rain Dance was frustrating. It was quite tricky- not everyone has good reflexes or coordination.

I thought the point of the game was the ride through fantasy cliches?

The voice acting was great and the game endearing- the downside was that it was way too easy.

Just loaded and about to begin Alter Ego. I gather most people didn't like it that much but after BOUT I felt like playing something totally different. I tried J.U.L.I.A before that but it bored me. I might try it again later on but I have tons of games waiting.

Adventure wise I've been playing the Runaway series. Besides being a bit ridiculous at times (I.E. shelled peanuts + butter= Peanut butter? lol what?

) it's actually quite fun and challenging, especially when you have to figure out before mentioned methods to do/make something! This visuals are really well done and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I recommend this one when you have spare time to just chill out.

I played (and finished) that Alter Ego game that I got from Jenny100 (back in Aug. 2010; this was before Randy got sick and had to give up ownership of this site) several months ago (think it was during the Spring 2012 school semester when I was taking these networking classes at school).

To date (yesterday) I played chapter 5 and 6 of The Black Mirror (first game in series). Now I'm excited about playing Barrow Hill just b/c I think that the time of year in the BH game environment is early/mid September) and the only chills I get from this game (as well as Black Mirror 1) are just the chilly/coldness of the weather out of doors in the mid/late autuumn, and really, nothing else in these games scare me at all - how about you guys?

I didn't find Black Mirror chilling or scary but I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I liked the main character (unlike the awful sequels).

I've started Black Mirror 2 (and had been playimg it for some time, all the way up to the beginning of chapter 4 where Darren is tied to a chair about a month or 2 ago) and so far, I'm liking it.

I just couldn't stand Darren. He was so whiny and petulant I found myself wishing him all kinds of pain. It literally ruined the game for me.

@ AlienBZ - Barrow Hill is not scary, but it's a very good game. I really got attatched to the atmosphere of the whole little enclave and even the reptitious radio broadcasts and the woman announcer grew on me. I can't wait for Braken Tor.

So I have just finished Alter Ego and thought it was a bit of a wasted game. I enjoyed the storyline but there were too many plot contrivances to really hook me.

The beginning was rather slow and as a result the two protagonists' time together was too rushed. They were also rather unpleasant (although they did grow on me slightly towards the end).

I did like the ending but overall it could have been so much better than it turned out to be.

Did I forget to hit "submit", or did the forum eat my last post?

Anyway, I'm playing To The Moon, and it is a beautiful game. One that has made me think, not only about the game itself, but also about some events in my life, and how I could have handled them better. I think this might just be one of those games that will change the way I look at things.
