It has a script, setting and plotline that would embarrass any one of the spy novel hacks scrambling for a living after the collapse of the Soviet Union. (I'm looking at you, Tom Clancy.)
For your information; Europe is not a large open-air theme park for white middle-Americans named like a James Stewart character. Paris isn't a picturesque colourful urban centre featuring wide boulevards, Clouseauesque gendarmerie and 1940s architecture. Ireland is not a pub, a field with a haystack and a ruined castle/monastery. Unless they steered you into a Tourism Centre in which case, keep an eye on your wallet and know where your exits are.
"Oh but wait! Some of it is!" you might argue.
"No not really, you idiot.", we will reply.

Is your "Magestic" game the one called "Magestic Alien Encounters", Tincup?
I have Majestic, but it was thrown out by a friend over the summer, Symbiocom, and Zero critical

As for gaming, finished Chapter 3 of The Black Mirror, up to start of Chapter 4.

Yep, that's the one. It's the first in the loosely based series.

Status : Offline | I just finished The Feeble Files yesterday (for the second time). I needed a saved game to get the fish and cat from the grabber machine, but, the rest I did. that is a really fun game, but, the inventory manipulating isn't very good and I wish they had a map. That feeble walks sooooo slow.

Status : Offline | Finished Deponia. Not as easy (at least for me) as some claim. A good game and I'm looking forward to the next one when a boxed version becomes available.
Quit The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. Got tired of it after the 18th logic puzzle. I'll get back to it after I run out of other things to play.
Recently finished Secret Files 3. Very good game but this one was kind of easy for me...finished in about 12 hours.
Now playing Haunted. Another good game, especially if you like Deck 13's past games. The sound was a little buggy (garbled/chopped sound) but after updating my sound drivers it plays fine.
I don't buy download-only games. Never have, never will........Mike Last edited by MKB : 3 JAN 2013 2:09am

It has Botunicula, Gemini Rue, the Blackwell bundle, Machinarium etc. a few others, all cool games.

I'm sure i'd enjoy Samarost 2, since i enjoyed Samarost 1. Though, i do find he little robot man of Machinarium rather cuter - indeed, very cute!

I have no idea what I want to play next! Aya mentioned Whispered World but I don't know what that's about. Time to do some Adventure Game research.

Some uneven puzzling and a sometimes awkward translation keep it from reaching its full potential, but it's a very imaginative game, at times amusing, at times very moving and poignant.

Thanks to the GOG sale I am due to embark on some serious old game playing- the 1st GK (which I've never played before) and the Ultima series. I tried the first Phantasmagoria but the cheesy acting is putting me off big time. Am I right in thinking the second installment is better?
And is it worth buying the 11th Hour?

ehm no, unfortunately you're terribly wrong. The acting in the second game is atrocious

I thought the overall cheese value was what made Phantasmagoria charming. But if you thought it was bad, avoid the second one, it is just as bad, but less entertaining.
As for the Ultima series, the first couple of games are rather crude by today's standards (the second one in particular is just frustrating). 5 has some really strong moments, and helped advance storytelling in games, but it can be a bit of an uphill struggle from time to time to play that game (I like it, but I can absolutely understand why someone would not).
Ultima 7 though, that is a masterpiece by any definition of the word.
I just recently managed to beat Kaptain Brawe. A game that probably would have been better with some voiceovers. The original German version had that, and the rest of the sound design seem to be made with that in mind (the music volume is low enough as to not overpower any speech), but the English version did end up feeling a bit empty.

Only as a real bargain bin buy -- GOG is charging too much for it, I'd say. I didn't care for it that much, at any rate. It lacked the appeal of The 7th Guest, which I really enjoyed.

Rather disappointed to hear about Ph II I read a lot of comments about it a while back- lots of people were saying it was a horror classic.
Oh well.
Can't be too disappointed for 8 bucks I also got the GK trilogy.
