Status : Offline | Just finished Barrow Hill. I never thought Barrow Hill was scarey. In fact, all of these games my friend thinks (Black Mirror series, Outcry, Alter Ego, A Drowned God, Tenijum, the Myst series, NiBiu, etc) are all "creepy", I told Mom the other day I think the friend thinks that way about my games is b/c she never played them/doesn't play them (she's not a AG-er), and Mom told me I was right.
when she threw some of them out about a month ago, I regretted letting her throw them out, now I'm slowly starting to replace these AG's (and their accompaning strategy guides) that she threw out. So far I replaced NiBiRu Age of Secrets, Osidian, in the process of replacing Rhem 2 (copy I'm getting is part of an Adventure Pack which contains 3 games on a DVD).
On the other hand the friend grew up watching The Hulk on TV, it's Bruce Banner, as far as I understand it (didn't grow up following the Hulk's story) when Bruce gets angry he switches into the Hulk, people are afraid of him, he smashes things up, then after Bruce (as the Hulk) calms down he switches back into mild mannered Bruce Banner. From the beginning I always thought as the Hulk as a monster that has a nasty temper, but my friend understands the Hulk, says he's a good person even when he goes into one of his enraged rampages as the Hulk but I didn't think this way. I thought as the Hulk as a monster with an uncontrollable tempter that must be brought under control by the military, as a bad guy when he's in Hulk mode - so I reckon my friend feels the same way about my games just b/c she doesn't understand them even when I told her they're AG's where the MC goes exploring, finding stuff, solving problems, unraveling mysteries, just as I may not understand the Hulk?

Please let us know what you think of Alter Ego, Maum. I will be VERY interested indeed to hear your opinion of it.
So I have just finished Alter Ego and thought it was a bit of a wasted game. I enjoyed the storyline but there were too many plot contrivances to really hook me.
The beginning was rather slow and as a result the two protagonists' time together was too rushed. They were also rather unpleasant (although they did grow on me slightly towards the end).
I did like the ending but overall it could have been so much better than it turned out to be.
Hmm, i find it interesting that you could stand the first protagonist of Alter Ego if you disliked Darren from BM. I found the Alter Ego guy worse than Darren, but anyway.. thanks for your feedback!
...so, is nobody playing Sherlock yet?

It came out earlier this week, but not sure if that's worldwide. I've been waiting for a bricks&mortar disc copy, and my bricks and mortar store doesn't seem to have it yet.. oh hang on: Release date for EU was 20 Sept, and NA is only 25 Sept; so you should have it by now, Ines. Are you in England or Portugal at the moment?

Trying to pull myself out of this addiction to Casual Games. Never realized I could get addicted to them... Not that there is anything wrong with playing Casual Games, but I want to start playing some of my "To Play" adventure games and/or RPG's.

Given the relative point & clicker famine, it's nice to have that choice (though TFC is apparently not a pure P&C).

Well, I'm in Uruguay right now! I've been here for the past five months doing a traineeship programme, but I'll return to Portugal in November.
It's difficult to get the game here, so I guess I'll have to wait when I come back to Europe... Is there a demo?
Meanwhile you can tell me what you think of the game when you get it!

Well, i prefer disk copies of my games, and this one seems hard to get hold of. So we might just end up
playing the game at the same time....

Don't feel bad for cheating because the game seems to ask you to make some fairly big leaps of logic (and illogic where this particular puzzle was concerned). Oddly enough, I seem to be much worse at this game than I am at Myst or Rhem but maybe I just need to get used to the style.
On topic: playing the Five Cores before I start on Testament of Sherlock Holmes. One game at a time for me

Sherlock Holmes vs. Arsene Lupin was great puzzling fun. Don't expect JtR to be too similar, because it's not. It's a very different style.

I feel that this is actually one of the great strengths of Frogware's Sherlock Holmes games, they all offer something unique & different. The Silver Earring, The Awakened & Vs Arsene Lupin (Nemesis), they are good for different reasons, though if you love one of them, you'll probably at least enjoy the others (Mystery of the mummy though, that one was not very good, and I have yet to play vs Jack the Ripper or the latest one).

The graphics are lovely but I find the atmosphere rather sterile. I started the JTR installment as I am quite fascinated by the Ripper murders but gave up about a third in (I think). I found that instead of focusing on the murders a lot of the time was taken up solving tedious side-puzzles. I was looking forward to a meaty forensic investigation so found myself thorougly disappointed.

I'm finding SH vs Arsene to be a challenging game. I'm either over interpreting the verses or miss the deeper meaning. Once I get past the poems,, I'm ok. I like that the game plays in 1st person mode. I don't mind the movement at all and the dialogue is mercifully usually cut scenes (I hate endless dialogue choices). It will be interesting to compare to the next game (Ripper).

I know some people love that kind of thing, myself I prefer the treasure hunt feeling of SH vs Arsene. Plus there was the added motivation of outwitting an arrogant Frenchman, and if anyone knows how to make such a game, Frogwares should
