Yes, please post another shot if possible. Even with the hint, i.e. recent game, an episode of a series it does somehow look familiar...

The game reminds me of a Demo I tried a while ago but I can't recall the game for sure...wild guess...was it  Miskatonic ?

At last! Yes, it is from Miskatonic: Episode One, an adventure that deserves more recognition IMHO, if only because it manages to be tough but fair, in an age when most adventure games are rather easy.

I'll upload screenshots from a couple of different games later...

Pygmy, an extremely wild guess: Koala Lumpur: Journey to the Edge? Something about the color palette reminds me of it.

And it reminds me of Armed and Delirious, a game that I have started and neglected   more than once.

Pygmy, your game is Creature Crunch.

Ha! Another game on the shelf that someday will be played. Haven't heard about it in such a long time.

What better time to play Creature Crunch than now, in the month of October.

Does anyone know why this game is so obscure? Was it just that it came out at a bad time, at the tail-end of the Lucas Arts animated adventure game boom?

Perhaps it just wasn't widely available or advertised very well at the time. Who knows, lots of things for new PC games were making their presence at that time. According to what I've read and so forth here's an archived review

Probably the medium sized boxed edition is out of play but the jewel case version can be found cheap.

This one has been cropped to eliminate a character:

Murder in the Abbey indeed murdered one of the best historical thrillers imaginable, what a travesty. But fun to see so many wonderful games and pictures from them. I have missed this adventure, i will try to come back more.
