The RPG elements are actually deeper in Jagged Alliance 2 than in say Fire Emblem, which is another SRPG.

Status : Offline | If Jagged Alliance 2 continues like this, and I had played it last year, I'm not sure if Skyrim would have been my "best game played this year". I always found the art style a bit offputting, which is the reason why I have not played it up until now, but now I regret being so shallow and not giving it a shot.

As expected there isn't much difference to the overall storyline, just some minor things that are different.
Still it's amazing how detailed and rich the game world is, there's so much books to be read and detailed environments to explore

On the plus side, I experienced no noticeable slowdown apart from during the first few seconds of each mission.
And darn it, I'm getting a grand strategy itch again. On the plus side, I picked up Pride of nations a few days ago, when Gamer's gate applied the sale twice to it (they do that from time to time. 75% off on a game that is 75% off? Not bad. I grabbed the X-com collection for 11sek (just over 1&euro not long ago as well on GG when they did that) , which is probably what triggered my grand strategy itch in the first place.
*edit* The emoticons seem to be a bit trigger happy these days.

It used to be one of my most favourite win95 puzzle games. Unfortunately there were some comptability issues with win98 and didn't even work on newer windows versions.
But it runs on windows 7?!!! I mean WTF? I never expected it to actually work when i clicked it, seeing that most older games don't run on win7, let alone with some serious tweaking.
I'm soooo happy that i can finally play this gem again, it's game design is truly unique.
You'll probably find it on an abandonware site somewhere if you want to check it out

I saw the two other endings i didn't choose before. As I suspected they gravely annoyed me, because they oppose all my own beliefs on how society should be.
But that proves that the story and endings are very well written

There are 4 endings in total, so there might still be one left to see (though you can choose it from the ending room as well, it would seem that, much like Deus Ex 1, nothing that you do during the course of the game impacts the ending, it all comes down to a choise right at the end).

I have thought off and on of trying to create stories or actual movies with that as a part of the way it works, there would be choice trees and if you decide one way then the story changes.....i suppose it might be possible but would end up being prohibitively expensive to make a movie that way with all the various choices and differnt paths, but it would be fun. and I suppose once they perfect software to mimice humans and create human dialogue from software it will be easy as pie and that is really just around the corner tech wise.
i do love the Deus Ex series, the first two were very well made and i loved the detail of the worlds....hope Deus Ex III is just as good.

As the name suggests its a sandbox god game, but a unique and very original one.
It takes some time to see all the different outcomes, there's a usefull checklist to see what things there are left to discover
Apparently you can buy a newer version on the devs site, but you can also play the original one for free.

If you keep it short-ish, then it shuld not be impossible. You could just copy the Dragon's Lair style of "gameplay", but instead of death-traps you get new story sequences.
And I found Deus Ex 3 to actually be better than the first Deus Ex (I never really liked the second game though). The stealth mechanics in Deus ex 3 just worked a lot better than it did in the first game.

Although it couldn't be the seminal experience the first game was, it still managed to throw in some interesting twists in its gameplay. Oddly perhaps, my biggest struggles weren't with the puzzles themselves (which were generally middling difficulty) but the areas in between the puzzle rooms where you would often have to find some obscure bit of portal capable suface in order to advance.

Status : Offline | After a marathon run through Sacred 2 (which was quite good as a pure action-RPG), I played Risen.
Although the game world was fairly small and restrictive compared to the vast openess of Gothic 3, the scenics were lovely, lush and packed with quests - plus the plot and NPCs were very well done.
All in all, Risen was very enjoyable... albeit a bit short compared to the aforementioned, epic RPG by Piranha Bytes.
Following that fun, well-polished game, I decided to do a little more catching up on some older titles.
So I am now immersed in Dragon Age: Ultimate from Steam, which includes Origins, the Awakening EP and a slew of official DLCs.
My first impression is: raven-haired Witch of the Wilds Morrigan is super hot, but I prefer the seemingly softer allure of Leliana the Orlesian Bard.
In addition to DA:U, I grabbed Neverwinter Nights 2: Ultimate from Steam as the lone D&D game of that lineage missed along the way.
Otherwise, I still have Divine Divinty 2, The Witcher 2, Mass Effect 3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution on my CRPG list before finally diving into all that is Skyrim.
There are still numerous action titles in the gaming queue as well...
Cheers, Terry
P.S. Add to the above list Dragon Age 2, which was on sale this weekend for only $4.99 from the newly merged Gamefly-Direct2Drive. They also have Deus Ex: Human Revolution on sale this weekend for just $14.99 if anyone is interested.

It is hard to believe that such an old engine can support such great graphics. I've only played through the tutorial thus far, but there will be more to come later this evening.
And I also downloaded more campaigns for it. If this game is as good as everyone seem to say that it is, I might need them

My flying skills sadly lack the ability to play it much but i have followed the development with great interest over the years. If you need help be sure to ask over on the Hard Light forums, they are very knowledgable and the Headmaster is the master of it all. Enjoy. A great classic.
