A rather critical piece is broken: the RSS feed for the forums apparently contains an illegal character (in the title of "Talk Like a Pirate week"; line number will presumably change as soon as I post this), which effectively makes the only replacement for the defunct "Ten latest posts" function unusable if you're using a naïve feed parser (like Opera unless you tell it to reparse). Please fix this, hmm? Sadly it's too late to ask someone to fix XML.
Thanks.
P.S. When I tried to post a quick reply I got an error that my message was zero length. Obviously not the case. This appears to be because the gathering of message data is dependent on JS, which is not reliable when one goes back/forward with navigation mode set to 2 (force fast) in Opera. Presumably this could be rather easily be addressed by having a keypress event listener set the value attribute of whatever element TinyMCE is using as a shim. I suppose I'll probably get better results sending a site problem to Opera, though.

Thanks for reporting the issues!
The rss feeds are a little curky because of the conversion from the old forums. However they should be fixed now.
I will look into the issues with Opera and the editor (Tiny MCE).

I noticed there's a section near the bottom of the forums for reporting problems with the website, JKing. I suspect there will be some glitches for them to iron out, but I'm just glad they're back. Website withdrawal is not a pretty thing.
Edit: I see that an administrator has already jumped in to answer your question. Why is he dressed for battle?

Since there is already a thread for this, I must mention that I'm sad to see that it seems all my old threads that I had started under my previous "Traveler" incarnation seem to have disappeared into thin air. This would include, of course, the screenshot thread, and in the "Other Games" subforum, many threads that were still active such as 'Revenge of the Strategy Nerds"
an ongoing thread about strategy games) ; "What are you playing besides Adventure games" ; " Witcher 1" ; and "Witcher 1 ending and spoiler thread" amongst others.
Threads started by Camaroboy also seem to be missing. Could it be because we were showing as ex-members? Camaroboy was still an active member when the leak happened and quite a few of his threads were still active.

that's a big bummer
I really liked the witcher 1 ending thread, because it contained a lot of useful information about all the alternate endings i'll probably never see myself
Yes, the thread headings being dark grey against a black background, makes them hard to read. I'm thinking white would create a better contrast. I also don't like the fact that you have to scroll way up to remind yourself of the thread heading - you only see it at the top, and not while making a post. It would be useful, I think, if it also appears either in the heading above the posts/posting screen, or at least at the bottom of the thread where one is usually reading.
Listen Maum, where did you buy your copy of BOU Tales? Was it a hard copy or download?
I was just going to say - do pop in at the other games forum - I see you're playing my fave DA
, but I'm suddenly wondering if the Dragon Age thread isn't also one that I created way back when and would therefore have disappeared. Well, it wouild be nice if you say hi in the what r u playing thread then, because I want to ask you how far into DA you are. I miss the game so much that I recently got "The Witch Hunt" DLC for it. I still need to finish Awakening before I start it, though.

*Sigh* Well, do you remember when I er.. accidentally deleted myself last year? It seems that all the threads started by what the forum sees as "ex-members" didn't transfer, and I had a LOT of still current threads running under my old account, which, with the old software, at least, seems to be irretrievable once one pushes the 'delete" button. That thread was one of the casualties.
Anyway, let's just carry on with that hellspawn thread in trivia for now shall we? ...or shall we start a new thread.. perhaps once we're sure they can't retrieve the old one, we'll start a new one up here? Let's just wait until tomorrow and see...
@ Maum:
>>>Got it from Amazon UK. It was a hard copy and came with a double sided poster (map on one side) a booklet of concept art and a soundtrack CD. <<

It's a shame about the lost orphan threads. Much history both ancient and recent was contained in those; it'd be nice if they could be recovered.
The new stylesheet will take some getting used to, but it's not all bad, to be sure. And performance is obviously improved. YaBB always was very slow...
Sorry was there a question meant for me somewhere?
I did write something for you there, Maum, but for some reason it seems to have been moderated. I was saying something about that I really liked what I'd seen about the game, and that I'd like to get it next week when i'm off. I was also thanking you for the info and saying it looked like a nice package you got. Not sure why what I had said had to be removed....

I think it's bad. It doesn't look like JA+ anymore.

I didn't notice YaBB being slow. But this new one tends to hang when I first access it, which YaBB did not.
To be quite honest, this site loads and navigates much slower to me. All these things as well as the new format, as well as the fact that half of our valuable threads have been lost, don't bother me half as much as the new atmopshere/attitude of it feeling like a police state where freedom of speech has been removed. From what I understand from the new announcements/ rules/attitude and tools now in place, what I said there will be zapped with the : 'invisible' feature, where moderators will make anything negative said about the site invisible to the public, but still readable to the poster himself. (So you won't even know if other people can see your posts or not).
That is not in the spirit of the JA that I used to love and would have given my eye tooth to protect (you guys all know how protective I always used to be towards JA) Randy respected his readers and members. Measures like these show a profound disrespect towards the wonderful membership of what had been Just Adventure. Well, obviously, and sadly it's not the same place anymore. The old Just Adventure simply didn't need such measures because everyone loved the site and loved Randy.
Why don't the new managment and staff rather strive for loyalty from their membership rather than try to enforce their will onto the posters? The internet doesn't work like that. All the mature people will just up and leave and go to a place where they can converse pleasantly with friends, while what will enter here, will probably be the very type of audience that needs policing ;- if nothing because they are already used to such treatment. We are not. We are mature adults, not to mention that agewise many of the posters here could probably the grandma/grandpa of the people they will be moderated by. You don't get respect if you don't give respect.

I happen to like the cleaner, more contemporary main website format. Although I'm still getting used to the new forum layout.
All in all, everything looks good and I see the adminstrators are already making lots of little tweaks to resurrect some old threads, favorite features, etc.
Let's assume the temporarily lost threads caused the big post-count reductions. Mine still seems to be deflated by over 2,000, but who really cares?

I hadn't even noticed the rather severe policy changes until you mentioned them, Traveller.
If they are in fact going to be enforced, then I agree this forum community will be greatly diminished and I will probably leave.
Ah well, there are plenty of other places to meet online including a few closeknit, self-moderating, game forum groups.
While the JA message boards were down recently, you visited one such spot that I've been frequenting for years and you're always welcome there.

I think you are way over-reacting. Where are you getting the police state vibe from?
Nothing I have seen so far has indicated that any of that type is going to happen. The rules seem pretty standard and no different from the previous stuff. Randy banned people, Randy banned the P&R discussions etc This is nothing new.
I would imagine that discussions can continue as they did before.

The forum loads considerably faster for me than it did before, though there still seem to be some kinks to iron out on the main page. I like all the new features that the forum has to offer, like posting videos
