Beach. Sigh. Is it July yet?

Trav dear, I understand your dismay at the quietness around here - I feel it too. Right now my life is really busy although I do check in here every day. The restrictions concerning suitable topics for discussion on this website do inhibit casual comments on a range of world events which effectively silences a lot of innocuous conversations and there simply aren't enough new games to keep us all chattering excitedly. Although I have just started playing Samorost and as expected, I'm stuck already. I don't know how anyone can say they solve these games in 2 hours. :-?

What's up, why aren't you guys posting anymore...- have we all just become too busy, or the forum too tame? :-/ I was away for 2 weeks vacation. It was glorious, but all too soon I'm back to square one. I'm dealing with some family medical problems. The end result is I really only get computer time at work in a hit or miss fashion. My time off is much more limited and spent usually reading, TV watching or trying to get motivated to exercise. I'm grumpy, irritable and generally not good company, so it's probably a goo thing I'm not posting much. :-/

I'm never gonna get a chat with you that way! And I really think you need to find the time to come skydiving with me in Uru before the place closes down.
But not this weekend. Tomorrow, I'm off for a long weekend in Melbourne with my mother. We intend to eat and shop, shop and eat, see the King Tut exhibition, do a bit of shopping and then maybe eat. You have no idea how many years of nagging it's taken me to get her to do this.

Aww, well, I hope they can see now that damping down spontaneous, polite conversation to a ridiculous degree, is killing the forum. Surely since certain inflammatory personalities are now absent, we could converse a bit more freely about subjects that aren't too blatantly potentially insulting to other members, even though those subjects might be contraversial to some extent.
...such as the other thread I started here on OT, and such as this rather interesting game. http://www.justadventure.com/yabb//YaBB.pl?num=1318978583/0#5
In the latter case, it's game-related, and we've never been censored from discussing games. As long as everyone just remains polite.
For instance, I'm a tree-hugger, so plz try not to be too impolite towards people who:" enjoy nature and would like to see as much of it preserved as is possible, without completely throwing technology out the window".
Like I said in the other thread, I personally believe that if technology is judiciously applied, with a respect for nature in mind, I feel positive that nature and technology can happily co-exist.

As CYAN aren't spending any money developing new ideas and the move to open source hasn't produced any wonderful additions from the indie writers, I don't see a rosey future, that's all. Even the die-hard fans get bored eventually.
Although, I have just this week learnt how to climb to the very top of the waterfall mountain on Relto.

Hmm, I've tried to reply to this post a few times. It seems to be attaching itself to COD's post in a weird way... :-?
Let's try again... :
the move to open source hasn't produced any wonderful additions from the indie writers
I think that's a great pity, and I'm wondering why not... are they too intimidated by the Myst series legacy, I wonder?
I was thinking LOTRO online might be a nice place to hang out, but I think you merntioned it 's rather combat heavy for your tastes? If so, that's rather a pity, because it's a nice setting to just hang out for people who aren't entirely just into combat.
They could have set up nice quests and adventures that don't focus on combat or that at least have alternatives to it.

Starting with the South coast slipping beneath the waves first thus lifting the rest of the UK out of the water. Experts in Bullsh**ology finally found the cause and announced to the press. "When 60million people stand in one spot then bla-bla-bla." Their explanation droned on for 3 hours.... Photo evidence was provided.....

I think I'll rather stay off the beach considering the train of thought this has set in motion.
