Kinda - he was trying to trick you to use the chip. And yeah, you're someone named "Mark". I used that name because I thought people would think it means else. Only in the end you could realize its meaning.

If he wanted me to use the chip, he could have been a lot more helpful with that victrola! By I guess that was just part of his brilliant plan...So who was I after I got Mark's soul removed and before Stooge took over?

Hm, really?
I thought the whole time I am Mark. Ok, once it crossed my mind it might mean something else, but just a quick thought. It's true though, that Mark is quite an unusual name if it isn't spelled "Marc".
But is it?
Maybe it's a common name in the USA and I just don't know. The only one I know would be Mark Twain. And he wasn't even really called that I think.
Enough chit-chat.

That wouldn't happen to be a seagull by any chance?
But then why did I possess Stooge when he put it in MY back?

Eva, you know I never drink...only the essentials: milk, water, and Diet drinks....

Actually I had 1/5th of milkshake tonight; it was very good....but it counts as a milk derivative....

But he was really sick! Pay attention to the ending... his previous body lies decaying on the floor. He was decomposing.

By I guess that was just part of his brilliant plan...So who was I after I got Mark's soul removed and before Stooge took over?

Stooge took over! He is the one the ending text is referring to.

Sorry, I misread your question - you were Mark without soul. Or a souless person
After Stooge removes the chip, the games tells you that you feel "terribly empty".

Well, there you go! At least you doubted once. That is the way I wanted it to work
"Mark" can be also a noun or verb.

Thanks for clarifying, Rael...I now feel I have a complete understanding of all the complexities "Valpurgius and I" entails.

Nice game Rael! It took me a while to (spoily!) figure out how to take the sock. After kicking the sock didn't work and I read the 'use your mouth'-hint I actually tried blowing, coughing, licking and spitting at the sock....

I don't think I would have figured out the meaning of the story without having read this topic though...

Few people will understand a plot entirely based on seagulls.
