I guess I don't feel the conflicts you all do, since I don't play those other games. Skyrim in a month, yes.
All you do with Nehrim is follow the instructions. No fiddling necessary, except reading how to install it. Anyway, no biggie.

Status : Offline | To be quite honest, I very seldom make use of Utube when looking up anything about a game. As an example, my most recent problem in Arcanum, is that a certain follower suddenly started liking me a lot less. I went online to see what other ppl have said why this could be...- I don't quite see how I would have found the answer to that on Youtube - Utube is for vids, and I usually need specific answers like the above, not sure how watching a vid of anything would help for that. :-*
The only 2 vids I have ever used Utube for to answer questions about games, was how to beat the Kikimore queen in Witcher 1, and how to beat the Kayran in Witcher2. (...and they helped very much for that... )
Ok.. hmmm...I think I also watched "how to beat Fenrir" for Loki.
Why, what game walkthroughs have you been watching on Youtube? Don't you find that rather spoilerish?

| Deleted User | Just for the record I downloaded and started the game only to discover that once again the player finds himself thrust into a dungeon-like setting which was OK but not great, and then I somehow lost my torch and couldn't see... Anyhow, had this stand alone mod appeared say a year ago, the timing would have been so much better. In my opinion there are some here who really do have too many unfinished games on their systems and unfortunately I don't have a lot of practical advice other than the obvious.
And so, oblivious to the rest of the world I continue to hammer away at my first planned playthrough of FNV , rapidly approaching the 200 hr milestone, and I still haven't begun any of the DLC add-ons. It's a double edged whammy as time is precious and life is too short.

@CB: HInt: don't drop your torch! That opening sequence is marvelous! Just when you think it is the same old dungeon...it isn't! This game doesn't deliver anything that is the same-old thing.
Nice try, tho.

Ah,I realise some people might refer to them as game guides, though many people also call them walkthroughs. I'm referring to written guides that help you with various aspects of a game, be it stats, followers, combat technique, character build, items, weapons, quests, and so on. Most sites that host them, call them guides/FAQ's or walkthroughs.
The kind of walkthrough on Youtube, is more for the person who has already played the game, and want to see how others did it, or who never plan to play the game but just want to see what the game is like.
It goes without saying that if you watch a vid of someone playing a game that that would spoil the game or at least the part you're watching, and I therefore tend to avoid those, since part of the fun of a game for me, is not knowing what lies beyond the next corner.

i sympathize Trav, i have a huge pile of unfnished or just started stuff,..and work to do on major mods an article i promised over a year ago, and new things to learn....and new games coming that must be seen if posisble and my anime research which takes about 50 percent of my time... but i will take a look i promise Halycon, i really do appreciate the pictures and your enthusiasm shared...it means a lot. We are listening..just cant do much about it at the moment.
And Traveller if you read this, if you would PM me the exact steps or elements you sued to get your morrowind upscale, i do want to try that but had to uninstall and start over and i had a old versoin of MGE and it would not accept the new shaders..sometime this winter when the snow is deep

Hi Chris - have you been using 7? It has the usual "permission" problems with the MGE. I should have a lot of time on my hands late November and during December, and then might perhaps be a good time to run through the process?
(If we manage to tear ourselves away from Skyrim for long enough, that is... heheh. )

Since these are video games, I find it expeditious to use YouTube whenever possible, without showing me what's around the next corner. I only turn to it if I'm stuck in a section or got through it with undesirable results, then I find that section on YouTube to see how it is done or solved or where on earth that hole was.
Watching YouTube is nothing like playing the game for me in the least, and saves tons of time having to shut a game down to read three lines in a guide, or print the darn thing out.
Also, after I play a game, I'll go to YouTube to watch a play-through, some of the narrations as a gamer plays through are hilarious. Plus, you learn new ways of doing things.

I turned off the permissions in W7 and I am SOOO much less stressed. Now what I have is a much better version of XP. I love it.
As I get near the end of Nehrim, the story takes amazing twists and turns. The settings are gorgeous and unique. And some of the baddies are wonderful. I'll post a few screenies.

I see. Sure, that's good. Well, for me it's faster to just quickly toggle out of my game and quickly Google: "Stats: AP" or: " Sogg likes me less and less" and just quickly reading the text regarding the problem, than to sit through a vid with someone laboriously explaining. I die of boredom through spoken tutorials, even when trying out a new strategy game; I just can't do it.
"Let's play" Type vid walkthroughs of games are great though. One day I'll still watch the entire Amber like this, I think; and perhaps The Last Express. Hoewever, even with this kind of walkthrough, I prefer stills and text (in some instances) - it goes faster and it's like leafing through a comic book. (ok, obviously this only works with dialogue-heavy games - not action games.
I remember once following a thread on another forum of an entire ancient adventure game like this, and it was great, it goes faster than watching the actions play out on vid. ..but then I have a strong imagination and I manage to find pretty much almost any medium immersive to some extent.

I can't alt-tab out of most games anymore. Wonder why. Even if it works, when I try to go back the graphics are screwy.

Anyway......from Nehrim, a few more screenshots. I have others, but I feel that they are too much spoilers to show you. These are pretty generic, in between the big moments.
This game is awesome. Lots of ambient sounds and features. One step beyond Oblivion in design and scripting ... but it does feel directed like a mod...HOWEVER, directed in a way not accustomed to in Oblivion.
I hope Skyrim is close to this look and feel.

But trying to translate their lyrics is a joke. The translation sites vary wildly. This is the best (IMO) I found: http://lyricstranslate.com/en/leb-live.html
Their site (English option is at top right): http://www.schandmaul.de/

Problem is, this is going to need time to play, and in the bit of gaming time I currently have, I'm still busy with Arcanum. Just creating that character took hours as per usual... plus of course, once made, I'm not 100% happy with her. Sigh. Luckily it's 1st person view. :
Gee just look at her huge coarse hand and wrist! I suppose the body models are not fitted per gender... <_< Still, there are obvious differences, so they'd have to make seperate male/female models anyway - so why couldn't they have given the females finer wrists and hands? [smiley=shaking_head.gif]

Yeah, that neck needs a turtleneck or something. Nice face, though, and hair. You will be rebuffed by some because of your race--and it is worse if you were full-blood.
I finished the main quest last night. 47 hours. Now I'm going back in for the side-quests. I must have missed something in the main quest, because there are some weird things going on -- but I won't say where.

As I said, I did the main quest right through, without any side quests. 47 hours.
Now I'm going off on side quests. So, I thought, why not hit the console and turn on all the map markers. Can't be that many.
I beg you...when you're done the main quest...open console ~ and type tmm 1
Holy *&^%%$! I will be in Nehrim forever....but I have only until 11-11-11 (which is 11 days before my birthday). Then, the rest of the game world ceases to exist for quite some time, I expect.

Sooo tempted to proceed with this, but with the upcoming release of Skyrim in less than four weeks, the timing couldn't be worse for interested gamers like myself who still have a few pressing items on their plate to properly address.

Anyway, if I continue with this, that would mean that I'd have to leave Arcanum right in the middle of my playthrough, and I really was not planning on doing that.... [smiley=cry.gif] I really need to not exceed my allocated gaming time per day, and I've already done that now.
I prefer playing my RPG's in one go, and that was why I was going to set this aside for December.
