A few years ago i was extremely excited about a game called 80 days developed by frogwares. It was a take on Around the world in 80 days and as that is one of my favorite books and movies(the 3 part trilogy with pierce brosnan and peter ustinov if you have not seen it.. ) i awaited its release like a little kid....
Well to be simple.....that game was the most disappointing game i have ever played...It wasn't simply bad...It was full of great ideas and a fantastic premise yet they treat the game like crap.....

As frogwares does for years the Sherloc Holmes games i hoped for something better then the mess they made..
The game used their run of the mill engine they use for all their games but...this time it was bad...They used for each city 5 different character models and they respawn them hundred of times..You could see the same person 10 times simultaneously.Instead of giving people of each world interesting dialog tree to choose speaking-those 5 models spoke from 10 different lines of phrases....Add some horrible collision detection system with bounting boxes as big as houses and even moving was frustrating and the various transportation methods were useless.Graphics were horrible and through cities were large all building looked the same and all had locked doors...Also the story were horrible and the english translation was mind blowing horrible .Music was horrible too, with having a non lyrics "walk like an egyption " midi version of the bangies song told again ang again...My god it was a baddddddd game....

But the reason i talk about that game is that forgwares keep steadily improving their lucklaster sherlcok holmes games, and i hoped they show some love also with 80 days.Their latest engine version looks a bit improved...And if they write a interesting story,do a proper translation sith good voice overs ,a nice music sountrack and some interesting  exploration and npc dialog trees and i would be sold and forget the past...

Now that is a really good idea, frogwares deserves a second chance on that one, but their latest games are quite good

That's what i thought of and what i hope they eventually do.Their upcoming game (through its the same ancient engine) really looks quite polished and refined.Even their engine as old as it is,it has been improved by a lot.Their last games were interesting story wise and had some good voice acting.Their animations still are god horrible but the thing is they got better. The idea behind 80 days was incredible but the execution was abysmal. If they show the devotion they show in the recent (and especially upcoming) sherlock holmes games i believe they could make an amazing 80 days remake.

I just hope enough people are interested on something like that

That would be nice.  Frogwares improved enough for me to like them, somewhere between SH: Mystery of the Mummy and SH : M. of the Silver Earring.

MotM was bad, Silver Earring was better, and I loved The Awakened, and I liked all of their games after that; so yes, they definitely have been improving, in my opinion.

I've tried the game, had a lot of potential that was unfulfilled, a remake could change all that.

That's what i hope for! Their last games show a lot of improvement on production values like voice acting, music and story and even their engine is updated with a lot of new graphical effects. It is still really dated and horrible as far as character look and animation go...(considering it is an adventure game they could up the polygon count, add hd textures, add some real looking hair/fur/beards/moustaches and better animation).

In any case i made a post in their website forums about it and actually got a responce that they eventually may make a remake!!!! (they even went so far as to remove 80 days from their buyable games....so i guess they realize how disappointing it was ! heheh )

If you would like for them to remake the game write a reply to the post here :

Again if you read this PLEASE go visit for a moment to the Frogwares website and give them a reply about a future proper remake of 80 days !!!

I talked with one of their developers if they have any thoughts to make a quality remake of that game as its idea was great(and their latest games show a lot of improvements compaired to that) and they actually think about it...So please go and remind them that if they remake it properly a lot of people are interested for it.!!!!!!!!!!

80 Days was and is God Awful. I am not sure if they could ever do better if they released a C**** game like that one and expected anyone to like it. Too bad, as there were some nice aspects to it, but it just sucked!
