Yes
EDIT - oops didn't realize question already answered. And re the interlacing, yes it's a shame.

Status : Offline | This thread is addressing the type of things I used to write articles about: the real world issues of running older adventure games. Special thanks to Trav, Jenny, JKing, Tincup & others for the info on the panning & sound problems.
I wish that there was more of these type of discussions instead of some of the oft-repeated subjects. Would love to see things like stickied on-going threads that report games that can be fully installed, with or without a disk in the drive, games that run flawlessly under Win7, games that are (legally) downloadable w/o DRM (I know that most will be from GOG, but there are a few others out there), games that are playable on most computer platforms (mini, medium laptops as well as desktops, particularly when it comes to allowing all or most video chips/drivers), all AGs available for iOS/iPad/iPhone and Android-run units.
I know that some of these subjects have been touched on, here and there, but they never fully deal with the subject and they usually scroll off forever.

The future ain't what it used to be!

Status : Offline | Wow, Tincup, I didn't realize you were playing with a 4GHz quad. Makes my little 3.3 GHz quad look paltry in comparison, but it would explain, of course, why the rotation is still a bit fast for you compared to what it is for me.
Phew, I'm relieved you're happy that the ambient sound that's been included is sufficient, since looking at the earlier thread, I saw that that seemed to be a big issue for you.
Now the next question is eating away at me... do you have hardware monitoring software, and have you encountered anything yet that taxes your CPU to it's fullest? When I upgraded my system recently, I was on the verge of buying an i7, but decided at the last moment that an i5 would be sufficient, and that I'd rather save my cash to buy an SSD later.
But it's been eating away at the back of my mind that I should perhaps have gone for the i7.... Gngngngngng [smiley=boggled.gif]

Haha! Don't worry I got to 4ghz quad by unlocking and overclocking a $94 AMD Athlon II 555 BE [3.2/dual core]. It was so cheap and all I needed was a big heat sink and a mobo that would unlock the 2 additional hidden cores. I couldn't resist trying out a 'trailing edge' solution for my last upgrade which I needed to keep cheap. With new everything the cost was around $550 and it's pretty fast. But your i5 is plenty good and better at many things like video etc.

Now pause a minute and think..... if my rig predated 1998, then the damn thing would run Zork just fine, don't you think? :-*

You're expecting me to multi-task?

I have the discs and I got the GoG.com versions and they play pretty good. They include an application to slow your system so that the game performs correctly for that game. Works great.
Just finished grand inquisitor last night. SO much fun, couldn't believe how much I remembered! (Well... and how much I forgot!). I had to figure some puzzles out again! They must have been too easy since I did them without help

Yeah I had the speed issue too. For some reason the next time I ran the game the speed was correct... not sure what changed. The speed program runs in the system tray (orange, looks like a gear?).
If it does happen, I just used the arrow keys to turn. It's a pain, but it's better than tossing your cookies
