*SIGH*. If it weren't for so much disappointment lately (with recent purchases of mine, not generally with the genre), I would probably give one of his games a chance, despite the bad word I got about [s]TLS[/s]* TLC (The Lost Crown) and my indifference to horror games these days.
*Lol, was thinking of something else while I wrote this. You might be right about trying out the demos first, but there are two problems:
A. It's not always indicative, and it *has* happened before that I enjoyed a demo, which prompted me to buy the full game, which I did not like.
B. Say I download and play a demo. I play all the way to the end of it. Then I decide to buy the full game. I have to re-play the entire segment, again! This is particularly bad with long demos. Not to mention demos that take place somewhere in the middle of the game, which I really don't care for.

To be honest I didn't play DarkFall games yet and now I'm not sure if I'll be able to (I have a large monitor, too :/)

I don't buy download-only games. Never have, never will........Mike

I don't know if The Journal was remastered. The British Horror Pack seems to have the Lights Out remastered edition and the "Classic Edition" of The Journal. http://www.iceberg-interactive.com/games-mainmenu-27/134-adventures-in-terror-british-horror-collection.html

I don't recall having had to adjust the res and i play on a 24" WS. So besides adjusting screen res in windows Settings also check your monitor sizing options menu, perhaps it's not on default which would probably play it max'ed out to fit the screen.

It's not that old of a game, they could've made higher resolutions, at least 1024. Also, something might be wrong with the game. In the tunnel, where I start, there is no train. But, I watched the walkthrough, and there was an old train there.

No. The game came out in 2002, and back then only the adventure games with largest budgets offered 1024x768 resolution. The chances of a one-man-show like Dark Fall offering any resolution higher than 640x480 were nil.

I don't see a train except in the introductory video. Maybe there's one in the dark, but I can't make it out.

Then there was the version from Dreamcatcher in 2003. Then there was the "Pins and Needles" limited edition from 2009, that included both "ark Fall: The Journal Classic" and "Lights Out: Director's Cut." A description included in the case said Dark Fall: Classic Edition has seen a few tweaks, to update the gameplay and add some extra ambiance to certain scenes. And then there are all the download versions.
So it's possible the main menu is different on some of them. And maybe the screen with the train is not there in some versions.
