I'll agree with you there: I thought the ending worked quite well, indeed.  By the same token, though, I can sympathize with Greg, because it certainly is less dramatic than the penultimate act, and the climax of the story really does come at that point, when you do feel in danger and like you're facing some seriously bad mojo.

Still, to end the game there would have left far too much unsaid.  That would have been far worse, if you ask me.
You can't kill someone in a studio.

Greg, if you are reading this: Did you have a problem with the actual subtitles themselves rather than just the portraits accompanying them? If so, I would be very interested to hear what it was.
