Topic: Gray Matter demo

Deleted UserI downloaded this demo the other day and ran the two part installation.  During the intro the sound (most of it) cuts out briefly every second or two along with the cursor.  I suppose I could say it’s choppy but it doesn’t seem to affect the video.  Same condition occurs with dialogue.  Tried turning down all the settings (even though I shouldn’t have to since my machine runs at a 5.7 PI) but the issue still persists.  I’m hesitant to tinker with the machine unless that’s the only solution.

I suppose I could try downloading again from a different source other than the official site.  :-/

One other thing to try would be to reduce video acceleration. For some reason that sometimes improves the audio.

What sound card do you have?
Is it onboard sound or a separate sound card?

Deleted UserThanks Jenny.

I have to assume it is onboard.

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3L intel p45 chipset ATX form factor 1xPCI-E(x16)/4xPCI-E(x1)/2xpci/4xddr2 w/sata2,dual lan(gb),usb 2.0 & audio (cpu type:intel - socket 775) ($15 Mail-In Manufacturer Rebate Available from 12/1/08 till 12/31/0

I did go ahead and tried to reduce video acceleration but the change settings button is grayed out and the message says:  “Your current display driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware acceleration settings.” :-?

“Your current display driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware acceleration settings.”

What OS are you running? Vista and above don't allow you to adjust the video acceleration settings.

What?

Deleted UserOK, I guess that explains why it isn't accessible.  I suppose I could copy the program to a DVD and load on the old Dell XP which still meets the system requirements. Heck, what’s the harm.

Deleted UserI haven't given this much of any thought during the past three weeks, but for some reason my attention was drawn to the desktop icon thinking that perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to give it another look.  You can probably guess what I’m going to say but for the record and with no explanation whatsoever, the demo runs perfectly normal now without the presence of any of the problems first mentioned.

I believe there might be a specific term for this type of problem resolution; either that or I will have to conjure one up.

Guess I’m back on track and able to focus once again on pre-order options. 8-)
