So some friends and I finally had a breakthrough in the second half of the Filmmaker, where you go into the five movies.  In A Detective's Story, on a wild hunch, we setup the coat tree to look like the client the detective described on the tape.  So we put on a wig, dress, perfume and necklace (had to go back to a previous save, because apparently once the necklace is on the vampire, it doesn't come off).  The voice over says our dressed-up dummy nearly right, but it's missing something.  Nothing else was mentioned in the description, though, so we're at a loss.  We tried everything in our inventory, but nothing else would go on.

Does anybody know what else we need to do?  Solving this clue seems to be the lynchpin for the rest of the game.  We're so frustrated, we've come to the point of giving up.

Thanks for any help!

It has been a very long time since I played the game and have forgotten a lot. First thing that comes to mind and I could be wrong is a gun but don't rely on my memory. Christopher Brendel (the developer) is always willing to help out the gamer. If no one can help you here then why not try him at his email

Good luck

Got the gun from the safe?

Thanks for the kind words, but that isn't my e-mail.
I can be reached at info at unimatrixproductions dot com, though!

Scott, somewhere in that film is a note talking about how "you can never trust women because they'll shoot you in the back"...this is a hint that you need to place the gun on the disguise to complete it, as well.  Also, as ukpetd pointed out, you need to use perfume, if you haven't already.  Good luck!

Not a problem!  I just feel sorry for the owner of that e-mail address, if anyone sent e-mail to it.

Thanks Christopher and all for the help!  We haven't opened the safe yet, so obviously had no idea a gun was in there
My adventure gaming posse and I are meeting tonight and we'll try and figure out how to open it.  However, our previous attempts, such as using the left-right-left numbers on the plaque in the vampire film, have yet to yield anything.

We'll give it the ol' college try tonight, but could I get a hint on that as well?  I promise I won't read it until we're really stymied

Thanks!
