The fistfighting is OK, but the arm wrestling can be a bit more challenging.

Is it worth to upload that save in the game, storywise? I mean, does it differ much from playing the game without any connections to your past actions in the prequel?
If things go well, hopefully I'll start playing tomorrow.. can't wait!

Also, I hate Nekkers with passion >:U

| Deleted User | If you start the game on "normal" you'll also get around 350 orens. I'd agree that having the silver sword is the best advantage of importing a save. (You can find better steel swords in the Prologue) Still missing one component to craft a silver sword, as I'm a bit curious to see if it has better stats.

| Deleted User | Interesting. I guess that supports the decision to import a save.
I see that Softpedia has the patch 1.1 available for download even though its release hasn't been acknowleged yet by the official site. :-/

Status : Offline | Cd PRojekt said not to d/l the patch on Guru3d (which I'm assuming is the same one that's on Softpedia now too).
They are working on bringing it online soon and the patch ther enow has something wrong with how the DLC is handled with thiei servers/launcher.
There's apparently three different patches, one for retail/D2D (IE ones that have securom) and then one for steam, along with the other one for the GoG version of the game.
Patch Notes:
2) Patch 1.1 Corrections
1. The process of installing and activating the game is now easier and more stable. SECUROM copy protection has been removed entirely, making the game DRM free! 2. The “Troll Trouble” DLC package is included in the patch, bringing to an end any and all problems related to downloading this content. 3. Problems related to downloading other free DLC have also been resolved. The game launcher now correctly detects and updates specific modules. 4. Game efficiency has been improved. Game now runs 5-30% more efficiently and game loading has been accelerated. Efficiency increases will vary depending on system configuration and game version. Owners of boxed versions of The Witcher 2 are likely to notice the greatest improvements. 5. Bugs causing the game to crash, especially while saving game progress or loading saved games, have been corrected. 6. Movement key mapping has been expanded to include cursor (arrow) and number pad keys. 7. Options have been added for inverting the X and Y axes of the mouse. 8. NVidia 3D Vision Surround now works correctly with the game. 9. The hardware configuration auto-detect function has been corrected, resulting in improved game efficiency. 10. A bug preventing the completion of the “Blood Curse” quest has been corrected. 11. After beating the GOG.com penitent monk in the mini-game, the relevant link now displays correctly. 12. GOG.com credits have been corrected.
Love the first one, goodbye DRM .
I just wonder now what about those of us that swapped the Securom exe/dll for the GoG one.

Status : Offline | Patch is now up:
http://en.thewitcher.com/patch/
Also, in another awesome move not only did they remove the DRM with this patch (make sure you put your original exe/paul.dll back if you swapped them), but they are also giving out the DLC for FREE now, all of those pre order ones.
So here you go:
http://wpc.420C.edgecastcdn.net/00420C/files/InstalDLC/dlc_finishers.exe http://wpc.420C.edgecastcdn.net/00420C/files/InstalDLC/roche_jacket.exe http://wpc.420C.edgecastcdn.net/00420C/files/InstalDLC/magical_suit.exe http://wpc.420C.edgecastcdn.net/00420C/files/InstalDLC/swordsman_suit.exe http://wpc.420C.edgecastcdn.net/00420C/files/InstalDLC/merchant.exe http://wpc.420C.edgecastcdn.net/00420C/files/InstalDLC/alchemy_suit.exe
You need to patch first then install the DLC's.
Also if you are using any mods, make sure you remove them first and then to put them back once you patch.

Status : Offline | Ooh, thanks Stiler, gonna check the patch out tomorrow
Well, I finished a bunch of quests in Act 1 and replaced my imported swords. Raven armour is still the best, plus it has three upgrade slots - I can see it lasting a long time.
PS. I'm sure I made all the worst decisions in this game :/

Status : Offline | Now I'm stuck, I Can't get the bloody patch to install.
It keeps saying "Installed game version is invalid or incomplete."
I've took out all the mods I've used.
The only thing I can think of that's causing it is that I accidently deleted the original Paul.dll file and replaced the witcher2.exe in the main folder as well.
Anyone here that ordered from D2D care to send me that exe/paul.dll? Just throw it up on megaupload or something and pm me the link, I'd greatly appreciate it plz.

| Deleted User | After installing the patch I immediately noticed the change in loading time - around eight seconds compared with many many seconds pre-patch. As for overall game performance I really didn't notice any change so I'll go ahead and say about a five percent improvement based on my particular system configuration.
Tried installing the other DLC packages but discovered that the servers for those files were down (overloaded) but they did provide separate working links via email. Found the mysterious merchant guy but didn't see anything that I felt I really needed or could afford. Of course all I really wanted was the special swordsman suit but I presume that I don't get that until I reach a certain point in the game or else unlock enough talents in that specialization. Guess I'll just go and look it up. :-X

Status : Offline | I got it working now.
Sadly, the "Suits" aren't actually suits at all.
The Swordsman "suit" isn't actually anything you wear, it's simply some Whetstones and oils for your swords.
The Alchemy "suit" is just a pair of herbalist gloves.
The Magical suit is simply a pair o fpants.
Then you have Roche's jacket which is the same one Roche wears but with a hood on it.
So using all of them you have "almost" a complete suit minus boots.
With this patch (since it removed the drm, which I already did) I get no fps improvement from it. However going from the original Securom D2D install to this was a Godsend for me, it gave me a good 10-15 fps average increase. I was getting high 20's-35'ish fps, now I average low 30's up to hitting just shy of 50 fps depending on where I'm at/the time of day in game.
I'm running everything at high/ultra except for ubersampling off and AA.

| Deleted User | LOL. Thanks Stiler.
I did notice a few additions to my inventory, oils and such but of course I would never have made the connection. : Humph.
Continuing...
Yup, got the gloves and the pants. Minor upgrades to what I already had.
now I average low 30's up to hitting just shy of 50 fps depending on where I'm at/the time of day in game I'm getting about the same results here. Lower fps at night, much higher during daylight hours.
I'm running everything at high/ultra except for ubersampling off and AA High detail level seems to be working best for me, at least for now.

It automatically adjusted my graphic settings to Medium so I guess I'll be alright with my graphic card..
Looking forward to sharing my comments with you!

Status : Offline | I don't get it. I now have an I5 2500k CPU Quad @ 3.3GHz, Windows 7 64k with 8 Gig DDR3 RAM installed, a brand new gaming mobo, and an Nvidia GTX 570. My primary drive is a WD 7200rpm with a 64meg cache.
The game is still setting me down at lowest possible specs. I don't get it. I'm now considering getting myself a WD VelociRaptor that runs at 10 000 rpms, but even the little 300 gig one is pretty darn expensive.  The 150 Gig one is definitely going to be too small, methinks).
This is after installing the patch mentioned above, btw...

Don't know Witcher but with those specs you should fly so I'd Max the game out and see how it plays. Lots of game default to lowest settings - is W one that tries to figure out the optimal config? I usually end up hand setting everything anyway..

On another note, does anyone know where the gamesaves are hiding? Ah. Looks like my documents.

Also Trav, If you are gonna upgrade HD's, I'd go for Solid State Drives.

because..
I handpicked my Witcher 2 graphics settings now, and it's looking breathtakingly beautiful! Stupid specs detection app of theirs...

Status : Offline | Wow.. I just begun playing and I'm already stunned at the immersion of it, it really sucks you in... the camera movements around Geralt show how detailed the graphics are, he looks so real!
Anyway, apparently I have to start over as somehow I started the game with Triss (and this I remember... I sticked with Shani in the prequel!". So, as I'm still suffering from blackouts, ill just go browse in the internet for more events on the ending of the game. And maybe I'll also use one of the save games that are around, if it proves to be useful. I just don't want to start this game knowing I'm doing everything different from the previous one :-/.
