I've just downloaded the latest edition of The White Chamber, I believe it's one with the voice acting included.

The download is perfectly ok, but the downloaded file is impossible to open. For some reason it's not the usual exe or even a zipped file. I tried opening with different programs but to no avail. Thanks in advance for any tip or solution to this problem.

Did you download the game here? www.studiotrophis.com

I only see 2 downloads, the first is an exe the second a zip.

What?

The zip you're referring to is the source code one? As for the .exe, it has this weird name: thewhitechamber1.7SETUP.exe

Isn't the first dot (version) inappropriate?

But regardless of that, the downloaded file isn't recognized by windows (the icon I get is the standart placeholder whenever windows doen't know how to open a file  :-/).

File names can have as many (or as few) dots in them as they wish.  This is particularly true in Unix environments, where file-name extensions (like .exe) are far less common.

Hi , TC. Just right-click on the downloaded file ("thewhitechamber1.7SETUP"
, select "rename" and add the ".exe" extension to the filename without changing anything else ("thewhitechamber1.7SETUP.exe"
. You'll notice that the icon will change to a form recognizable by Windows as a self-extracting installer. Double-click on it and you're done!

As JKing stated, windows will accept any number of "." in the filename - it's the last occurrence that describes the file type. It sounds like the download may have omitted the extension.

What?

Amazing. I don't know how, but this post I made on October 23rd is the first in exactly a year since the last one I made, on October 23rd 2009. Incredible, since it was totally spontaneous on my part.

Edit: Oops, belong on the CCS thread, not this one.
