Hi guys,
About time we found out what your mettle is made of...

As per usual, my shot will probably be guessed in a second, but this thread is meant for those harder to guess shots and challenges, so here goes:

What game is this shot from, and what scene in the game does the picture describe?   :

It jnust might be from Byzantine, The Betrayal, depicting The Great (Aya Sophia) Mosque in Istanbul.

*sigh*   Like I said - I'm not good at posting "hard" challenges...  :'(

Right, Cultura, obviously you're good at guessing 'em - so your turn to try to post something that won't be guessed in 2 seconds flat.

Anything goes in this thread, officially speaking, but I guess you'll just have to put up with people's complaints if it really was ridiculously difficult in an unfair way.

To up the ante, we can ask any question about the picture we post, just to fluke people like me who tend to look up games on Mobygames or who Googles info relating to what I see in the picture.

Not sure about the difficulty level you're after, but I'll try this:

What is shown here and what does it accomplish?

Well, my intention was that anybody can post anything they like, so that the guys who prefer a harder challenge can satisfy themselves in this thread without anybody having to worry about rules.

..and that said, that looks like the intro from  one of the later Myst games, but perhaps I should research that a bit better or let someone else have a shot at it..

wow that is intriguing. It reminds me of something towards the end of Aura 1 but the graphics style is more painterly ..but it is lovely  I am intrigued ......but don't know enough to venture a guess.

It does look lovely, like most of Cultura's screenshots.  However, I'm afraid it still looks vaguely like a Myst game to me, so I obviously don't have a clue where it's really from.

Of course, Cultura, it's up to you to decide if you want to post a small hint if nobody guesses by the weekend...

It reminds me of 80 Days.
I never finished that game, but it had the bright colors, cheerful blue sky, and sort of steampunk-looking contraptions.

It IS a lot like the Myst IV intro but no it is not from that, that movie is more photorealistic...  i am still intrigued and waiting with great interest to find out what this is.....with my shopping basket in hand
 thanks Cultura.

wow, Jenny i wonder if it WAS 80 days, that was an interesting game with lots of as you say steam punk stuff...i tried that game but just could not get into it....but who knows.....

Reminds me of one of the later Atlantis games (after the first).

Okay, I have a embarrising problem here.  :-[

I have taken this scene form a Myst fansite

http://themyster.websitemaker.nl/myst/1946796

assuming it was from Exile, and judging by the buildings in the far end it certainly seems so. It might be the contraption that transports you along the ravine in either Voltaic or in the opening scene.

Not so sure now. So I have not only challenged you, but it now seems, also challenged myself.

[smiley=rofl.gif]   So I was right after all!  Hee hee   8-)   Hilarious...

Ok, here is a suggestion: I postulate that the picture looks a bit more cartoony than the actual game
Myst 3, I'm guessing) because it is concept art?   :

I also think that it's concept art, and it could be either for the Voltaic Age in Myst III
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82l19F-J5L4

or for the intro to Myst IV, where you go on a ride with Yeesha in a similar-looking area in a similar-looking (as far as I can tell) air trolley

Yes, my very first thought was that it was the ride you have with Yeesha in the introduction to Myst IV, in the air trolley, but as you say, Jenny, it also looks like the gondola in Myst III.

Perhaps it is not exactly 100% either of those, but perhaps both drew inspiration from it.

In any case, it was an interesting puzzle, and an attractive picture.

Going a little off-topic: IMO, if Myst iii Exile had been the only Myst game ever released, it would be considered one of the great AGs. Hmm, just checked the top 50 of all time list & Exile is #27.

(Fwiw, I don't remember the px above being in Exile.)

The future ain't what it used to be!

The Voltaic age of Myst III was the very first thing I thought of when I saw the original post, but I decided it couldn't be that because the colors seemed wrong. (And, as someone else pointed out, the graphic style is much less photorealistic.) So now I'm leaning towards it being concept art as well.

The second and fifth ones (myst_019.jpg and myst_020.jpg) are from Mysterious Journey (aka Schizm). So the title of the image may just be from the start of the game's name.

Ok, well, now that Cultura has thoroughly flummoxed most of us, here's a shot from somewhere else.  Anyone care to tell us where it's from?

Yip, your turn.  I found that Mozart shot very attractive.

I wish they'd translate the game to English...
