It is fun to read about how much you guys are enjoying it.... and i am tempted to look is there a demo for Fallout New Vegas?

Yeah, I'm pumped for this game. It's been a long time between great new games, as most of you know. I'm still looking forward to others, as well: Gray Matter, Face Noir, Venetica, and maybe I"ll pick up Black Mirror 2. There must be one or two others.

Not hard to just cut out a small piece fo the world and use it for a demo, they just don't want to or assume the games are well known enough people don't need one.

Demo's can have all kinds of ugly in them (bugs, glitches, etc.) that could turn a player off to the 'real' game. I will agree though that Bethesda may more than likely have been playing off their reputation along with the rep of the Fallout series when they decided not to release a demo.
But really, who watched a video of VATS in action and didn't want to immediately run out and buy the game?
I had already 'bought' the game the moment I gazed at the first screencap of Fallout 3... which oddly was the same exact thing that occurred when I gazed at the first screencap of New Vegas
TOMORROW!
Playing: Skyrim: Dragonborn/Dawnguard; Torchlight 2; To The Moon; Far Cry 3
Finished: HomeFront; Far Cry 3; Dishonored
Always Playing: Half Life 2
Looking Forward To: BioShock: Infinite

Status : Offline | Another problem with having a demo for Fallout 3 was that the game was a bit slow started. At least I did not feel that the game was particularly good until I had got a bit further into it. The feeling that you were in the middle of a huge wasteland, where "human" settlements were few & far between, and where you had to fight for your survival was not something that you got until you started venturing west (and early on in the game, the game itself "wants" you to venture east).
I still think that Fallout 1 & 2 are better than 3, but the entire series (yes I also count tactics) is great. Lets hope that new Vegas continues the tradition of excellent games.

Steam is releasing the game at midnight tonight (pst, so 3am EST).
Also if you pre order it via gamestop (much better pre order bonus, the vault 13 suit + canteen, which is the only canteen in the entire game not attached to a suit of armor) you can simply use their digital store and then get your cd key and put it on steam and d/l it from steam tonight.
That's what I did, steam is pre loading it now for the unlock at midnight.
Can't wait to jump into the game, going straight to hardcore mode. That's one thing I would have liked in Fallout 3. Aside from the radiation the environment didn't seem like that bad of a thing. However in New Vegas with hardcore mode, they have it so you MUST drink/eat and sleep, going without such things over-time reduces things like your agility, hud, and if left untreated too long death. So having ithe canteen was a must for me.

Lots of good stuff early on. Take time to look around, as usual. Going back in....

I've only played 2 hours tonight and won't get much more per night until the weekend (I bought lots of coffee). I'm loving how seamless it seems from FO3 TO FONV.
BTW, I bought the Walmart version with the Caravan Pack (leathers, shotgun, repair kits, binoculars).
Let's keep us up to date here.

1. MY options got stuck, I wasn't able to change any of the out-of-game options (graphics, vsync, etc). I'd change it, then play, and it reverted back to what it was and wouldn't save. Fixed it by having to delete the pref.ini.
2. Mouse acceleration. I loathe this, it's annoying and makes you feel like you're aiming with a joystick, not a mouse. Turned off by an .ini addition found on the forums.
3. Sounds delayed/low, this is a majorr problem for me and many other people on the beth forums. It's like the sound isn't being played correctly, sometimes late, sometimes really really low (dialogue mainly).
Hoping a patch comes soon. Luckily though I did have a silver lining. With my gamestop pre order I got a code to the "caravan" pack instead of the "Classic" pack like I was supposed to, so after emailing about it I finally got it and now have both, the Caravan and Classic pack .
The Binocs seem broken though, because they give you NO additional zoom , it's the same "zoom" function you get from simply right clicking your mouse to "aim" a gun or such. The Binocs should be a lot farther then that imo, makes scouting and seeing things off int he distance a bit of a pain like I was hoping they'd be useful for.
STill early on in the game, already found myself sidetracked to hell like usual , just went out the front door of the starting town, saw a dust devil blowing about and a tumbleweed and went off over the hill and realized about 3 hours later that I was "supposed" to talk to people in that town I started in.

Thumbs down for the bugs, tho. :-/ I must admit the required Steam connection also irritates the ** out of me...
