I'm curious about what ones thoughts of about the fighting game series Dead or Alive.  A series known for its T&A factor which seems to appeal to men.  I'm no fighting fanatic, but I can't help but like the looks of the women, especially the wrestler Tina.  The problem with the series is those volleyball games.  Their more intended to sell to show the women in swimwear then sports and the games only got worse with each release.
Two things:  1.  Personally I think the women would be better off in a dating simulator game (minus any x-rated stuff found in some game of this type.)  2.  If the women get so much attention then shouldn't the men get some attention as well.  This would appeal to the lady fans of the series.  Maybe they would like to see the guys playing volleyball in speedos.

When I first played dead or alive the women looked like this:

In other words rather blocky, and the gameplay itself was overshadowed by the far superior Soul edge, so I guess I never game the series a fare chance. With all the volleyball games being released, I've had quite a hard time actually taking the series seriously.
I'm not an expert on good looking men (for obvious reasons
), but from what I can tell from the screenshots from the latest game in the series, it is mainly the women who look attractive, most of the male character seem to look rather goofy. Also, how do you actually market a game about men in speedos? Chances are that unless it is specifically marketed towards women, most people will think that it is for gay men.
And if the games are turned into dating sims, how are you supposed to claim that you play the games "for the gameplay"? I'm sure that most people who bought games like DoA beach volleyball or Rumble roses try to claim that they did in fact buy the games because they like the gameplay, and not because of the female character models.

I like the DoA series very much. My first one was DoA 2 on Sega Dreamcast. It was one of my first DC games and I played it longer than any other beat em up. And I think that game still looks pretty good.

I even thought the movie was pretty damn good!

I hope they'll do another beat em up part some day.

I really enjoy the Dead or Alive fighting games, though I've never played the Volleyball games. I've never had a problem with the scantily-clad fighter babes, some of my favourite female game characters can be found within the series (hello Ayane and Christie!).
