Nice demo. Very simplistic, but good voice acting.

1936: Soldiers of the Third Reich roam the world seeking occult weapons for their insane plans of conquest. When Fenton Paddock, a former British soldier and hapless smuggler, is asked to look for his friend Richard, who went missing in Tibet, he has no idea that this search will lead him across three continents to a secret that could overturn the world.
Enough mystery? Not in the mood for another crime story? Lost Horizon brings the classic adventure back to its roots: the 1930s, exotic settings, and a dangerous quest for one of the greatest secrets of mankind. From the creators of the award-winning Secret Files series, you are invited to a technically outstanding and carefully crafted experience of a lifetime.
Special Features:
•Movie-quality storyline by novelist Claudia Kern •Detailed and atmospheric, hand-painted 2D backgrounds •3D characters, animated in an elaborate motion capturing process •Real-time light and shadow effects for 3D characters and their surroundings •Atmospheric weather effects (snow, rain, etc.) •Cinematic full-screen video clips for intro and cutscenes •Facial animation representing emotions and speech •Experience a beautiful hand painted visual style creating a unique adventure masterpiece •Never seen before exotic locations, presented in a cinematic style •Deeply developed characters penned by the novelist Claudia Kern, with high quality dialogue and voice acting •Excellent technical specification and minimal system requirements: Pentium IV 2GHz or compatible, 512MB RAM, 64MB Video •Innovative puzzle design, with the added advantage of "Snoop Key" technology to aid puzzle completion
Wow, let me catch my breath. An experience of a lifetime invitation they say? Sounds like a tall order to me. Guess they really want my business, but I'd be wise like Halcyon and load up the demo first, after all it is another Deep Silver game. :-/

I"ve played harder puzzles in Nancy Drew games. But there is a charm to this game, something friendly about it. Maybe because it's a familiar story and characters. Nice way to pass the time.

| Deleted User | Thanks for your input H. I'll try to play through the demo this weekend, hopefully now that I finally enabled my problematic wireless system to complete the rather large download without some sort of an interruption with my ISP.
Comments pending for now at least.
As for adventure games, there isn't much on my plate these days, or as I should say games that I want to play. From what I’ve seen so far from the demo the graphics renderings do look very very nice, but for the time being I’ll keep this one close on my radar since ultimately the game ends up being another import, Deep Silver publisher.. sigh... Oh well, sad to say once again ignoring the potential sales of the US market, I'm still tempted to place a pre-order based on the projected Sept 17 release date. Or not...

| Deleted User | Finished playing the demo (approximately a 1 GB download) which took around ninety minutes to complete. On the dark side I’d estimate that 80% of the duration was spent watching cut scenes and clicking though dialogue. At least the voice acting is decent though and so it’s not too much of a chore. There are a few cases where you can choose your response, but I doubt that it alters the storyline. As for the story itself it seems there might be some potential, (a good enough reason for me to wait until it goes on discount) but then this is just a short demo so who knows. My personal opinion was that Black Mirror 2 was on the easy side, but Lost Horizon brings things to a new level and if I was forced to give an opinion I would have to say this is more of the nature of a casual game than a true adventure. Perhaps the upcoming full version will have some real puzzles to offer, but unfortunately the demo doesn’t appear to give any indication to let one think otherwise. It's probably OK if one is simply looking for some light entertainment, but that's about it.
A few screen shots: Please note that the quality of the images you see are quite poor in relation to the actual game graphics you will experience with the game.
Here we have Fenton in his loo. Judging from the sound effects it is extremely obvious what he is doing.

There is a timed sequence here but it’s easy.

| Deleted User | I used a program called Fraps which probably explains why the quality of the screenshots pale in comparison with the actual game graphics. :-/
