I play games from this era all the time and never have any problems. I'm playing Discworld 1 (1995) right now and don't even need ScummVM.
Day of the Tentacle is the sequel to Maniac Mansion, it's a classic on the level of the Monkey Islands. I actually got it as a kid in a Lucas Arts 6 pack with Monkey Island 1 + 2, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones, Sam and Max Hit the Road, and some Star Wars game promo disc. It's surprising that there are people here who haven't played it.

I think that for most of us, the 1st adventure game you played ( if it was a good one ) seems to be the favorite cuz it was all so new ya know?

OS = Windows Millennial edition. Comp: 1.7 Ghz, 250 GB hard drive 1 GB RAM, integrated graphics card.
Old games from the 90s played with no problem: Discworld. Duckman, Neverhood, Discworld 2, Simon the Sorcerer. Neverhood, all Lucas Arts games, Beavis and Butthead Do U. and many more. Perhaps why they work so well is I get these mainly online, maybe they've been altered somehow to work on newer computers I don't know.
I mainly have issues with newer games actually since I have an integrated graphics card, I couldn't run So Blonde because of the shading, for instance.

Sounds like you have a great system for playing some of the older games from the mid 1990's. Wish I had the same. As for your desire to play 'So Blonde' from Wizar Box you might have a problem since from the box art specs I see that the minimum OS supported is Win 2000. I played the game on Vista and what a pleasant experience it was...

This is because I have a slimline model HP computer with an integrated graphics card. This integrated graphics card is not fully DX9 compatible, and you need a fully DX9 graphics card to do the shading effect in So Blonde that they used on the characters or else they don't show up.
Being a slimline there is no slot in my PC for a new graphics card.
This is ok though because right now I'm trying to get through the Discworlds and by the time I do that it will probably be 2012.

Probably some of both (ie. the OS used and some tweaking of downloaded versions). However, thanks for the information which is important when discussing the 'runnability' of AGs from the 1990s. It makes sense that Windows Millenium ie. Windows ME (essentially Windows 98SE with 'window-dressing', much of which caused it to be super-buggy) would run some of those games since it was the last Windows OS that was essentially a frontend for DOS though Microsoft removed easy access to DOS partly (or so they say) to speed boot up.

The future ain't what it used to be!
