now I'm REALLY confused.
I thought we'd established Aya was a chap?

True what Dimi3 says about name suffixes being 'a' and 's'.
I'm friends with a Greek couple - Nitza and Meltos.

Am I still a woman???

last post i made on this topic was about 24 hrs ago and that was 6 pages ago !

aya... i guess my conclusion was based on a feel i got from your posts...

i suppose that growing up in america with so much "in-your-face-testosterone" has clouded my view of men...

still gaming...

hmm i don't know where to start now! first of all yes all male greek names end with an s but not all female names end with an a - lots of them do though... i initially did not intend to hide my country and i was ready to respond "yes" when you first said it Michal but then i though of using Alkis as a clue later on, so you shouldn't know my country if i did!!!

so everyone knows now about my 2 names right? so what if Aya is my real name (Aya is NOT a fictional name after all... it surely exists) and Panayotis is my user_id in another forum (it IS actually!) and alkis has grown used to that name? he is a member of that forum too you know......

so Michal you're judging again by men/women do/don't... why can't i be a woman interested in FOOTBALL (which you in america call soccer for some reason :
)... or maybe use some strong language... if i'm a guy saying and doing things a guy wouldn't say/do, why can't i be a woman saying and doing things a woman would never say/do?

medicro, i am not using a gender sign under my avatar

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

I realised that after I posted - the power of suggestion I suppose.
It's the feminine avatar that suggests it.
I still think of you as a woman - has it actually been decided what gender you are?

Sennebec - you're still a girlie - aren't you??

yeah my avatar emits a lot of female energy doesn't it? hihihiiii
(<- female amount of smilies according to recent theory)

It's a possibility. I know a guy whose real name is Volker and everyone calls him Howard, but it's certainly unusual. However Panayotis is a Greek name. Not a very well known name outside Greece I would add. When people choose/get their nicknames, it's usually after someone famous.

You are by your own admission a huge fan of Parasite Eve. The name of the game's heroine is Aya Brea. Do you seriously want me to believe that your real name is Aya Brea too and that it's just this incredible coincidence? I'm not sure I'm that gullible

I said soccer in order to not confuse our American friends
Yes, a woman can be interested in football (or soccer or whatever).

... or maybe use some strong language... if i'm a guy saying and doing things a guy wouldn't say/do, why can't i be a woman saying and doing things a woman would never say/do?

That is all true. You still could be a woman. It's just that now you'd have hard time convincing me
You have proven beyond doubt that it may be extremely difficult to determine a person's sex based solely on what they say/write.

Your disclaimer was a tipoff too. I figured you were probably a guy after all last night, but didn't say anything. I must say that in a situation like this, I'd start putting up similar disclaimers a lot earlier

you're most certainly right on everything...... BUT... who said if my real name is Aya that my real last name is Brea? couldn't i be Aya Papadopoulou (<- very common greek last name) and change it to Brea due to my PE obsession? a woman named let's say Kate Smith could make it Kate Walker or a woman named Claire Ryan could change it to Claire Redfield!!! and you don't know Greece's celebrities do you? couldn't there be a Panayotis something?

That is all true. You still could be a woman. It's just that now you'd have hard time convincing me

i was telling you that since day 1
and of course till yesterday it was unable for me to convince you i'm a man so your words don't surprise me :

well that's the purpose of a disclaimer... deny all responsibility whatever happens, even if what's written in it is unlikely to happen!

Possible, yes. Likely, hell, no

couldn't there be a Panayotis something?

Like Panayotis Pantazis? The famous Greek KO2 player?

And his ISP account is called "pantex"... hmm, pantex, Pantazis, sounds kinda similar... another coincidence? I think not

Oh, I forgot to add that this particular Panayotis Pantazis' birthdate is May 18th, 1975. 27.5 years old... yet another in the string of amazing coincidences?

i was telling you that since day 1
and of course till yesterday it was unable for me to convince you i'm a man so your words don't surprise me :

Correction - unwilling to say the truth but very willing to play it both ways
If you had said you were a man I would have had no reason to disbelieve you.

well that's the purpose of a disclaimer... deny all responsibility whatever happens, even if what's written in it is unlikely to happen!

However no one puts up disclaimers if they do not expect something to happen in the first place

so i see you know a few of the biggest greek celebrities... of course i could be a woman fan of this fantastic KO2 player that amazes the crowds every time he plays... he's got a huge female fan club i tell you that!

And his ISP account is called "pantex"... hmm, pantex, Pantazis, sounds kinda similar... another coincidence? I think not

i have to tell you that my ISP account does NOT belong to me (truth)

Correction - unwilling to say the truth but very willing to play it both ways
If you had said you were a man I would have had no reason to disbelieve you.

i said: "but if i'm a man there arouses a new problem... would you believe it?!"
you replied: "Actually, at this point - no. And judging by the response of others, I think I would be far from being the only one"
and on the other thread when i reopened the possibility of me being a man you just tought me that the word pretence is also spelled with an s!!!

However no one puts up disclaimers if they do not expect something to happen in the first place

have you ever read what's in those games disclaimers? would THOSE ever happen? very unlikely (but not impossible
)

Now, don't you think it's time for you to update your member profile?

nah i wouldn't do that anyway

Right. If I found more data pointing in the opposite direction again, I might again rethink my position. Only a fool is set in his ways, unable to change his thinking based on new input

guess i should write an epilogue then... i was gonna do it earlier but those new plot twists gave some new interest! i wanted to use Inland's scenario too but i thought it was too macabre and would not contain truths

well i could be his sister couldn't i?

oh well

Epilogue (Finally!)
so it was that sierra post that linked me to alkis and then he (being 100% open) gave away the most crucial info!!! but i have to say again that i'm most definately amazed (STUNNED is the word) by your ability to always find that tiny thread that will lead you to an answer... i wonder if you actually ENJOY playing adventures, meaning that they definately won't last long in your hands!!! and i think a game like medicro suggested would make an interesting new thread (this thread's one of the biggest, if not THE biggest right?)

now sennebec and medicro thinking of me as a woman was interesting... i mean a male does not have the "intuition" to sense what's behind words!!! he mostly uses stereotypes, like you did: "No man would prefer playing a female role in a game" / "No man would point out how Lara was created"!!! but a woman getting the feeling i'm a female by my words is smth different... maybe it's good too i guess, cause i don't belong to the "in-your-face-testosterone" (the best line so far
) and it actually shows... anyway like i said me and my feminine side are best buddies!!! we don't fear each other like it happens most of the time... so when you know who you are and you know where you stand you got no problem being a female character as your alter-ego and you DEFINATELY got no problem letting ppl believe you're female without lying

Heya! I'm back from my exams (I don't recommend having two exams in one single day!

So, Aya, you use a female nickname, you use a female avatar, you smile a lot, you play games with men... you deserve a punch!

Epilogue (Finally!)
so it was that sierra post that linked me to alkis and then he (being 100% open) gave away the most crucial info!!!

Yep, your first name. In case anyone is actually interested how I found out (which I doubt), here's the walkthrough:

While browsing through Aya_Brea's past posts, I noticed that at one point Alkis called Aya "Panayotis" (which could also be spelled Panagiotis in Latin script I gather).

Because Alkis is not secretive about who he is, I went to his site (which I had seen before) and thoroughly examined it. At first I couldn't find anything but then I discovered the recent Kick Off 2002 World Championship page... the fifth ranking contestant was Panayotis Pantazis.

This finally gave me some solid info for Googling. It didn't take me too long to discover that Panayotis is 27.5 years old, a huge fan of Kick Off (obviously), knows Alkis and best of all, visits Just Adventure forum. I was a bit mad at myself that it took me so long.

Case closed

but i have to say again that i'm most definately amazed (STUNNED is the word) by your ability to always find that tiny thread that will lead you to an answer...

Well, I bet that at the beginning you were certain that I would never find out who you were. I wasn't sure either

i wonder if you actually ENJOY playing adventures, meaning that they definately won't last long in your hands!!!

Oh, I too am only human... and I definitely can get stuck in a game. Then it's a toss up whether I will have enough drive to figure it out on my own or find a walkthrough. I did notice that I seem to have gotten better at adventures lately and I need walkthroughs less than in the past. But sometimes I still do. And I definitely enjoy adventures!

I came up with that little "Solving Mysteries for Fun and Profit" phrase at the spur of a moment, but later I realized that it's more true than I thought...

and i think a game like medicro suggested would make an interesting new thread (this thread's one of the biggest, if not THE biggest right?)

Yep, I think we're #1

he mostly uses stereotypes, like you did: "No man would prefer playing a female role in a game" / "No man would point out how Lara was created"!!!

I don't think I was quite so resolute, or at least I didn't intend to. Most men do fit the stereotypes. You don't. Note the "most".

but a woman getting the feeling i'm a female by my words is smth different... maybe it's good too i guess, cause i don't belong to the "in-your-face-testosterone" (the best line so far
) and it actually shows...

I think it definitely is good. Women probably can't manipulate you so easily

we don't fear each other like it happens most of the time... so when you know who you are and you know where you stand you got no problem being a female character as your alter-ego and you DEFINATELY got no problem letting ppl believe you're female without lying

I have zero problem having a female character as my alter ego. I think I mentioned that my favourite adventure hero is Grace Nakimura  - sometimes I fancy she's a bit like me.

But I certainly would have problems letting people believe I'm female. I'm proud to be a man dammit! If I was female, I'd be proud to be female too
