AFAIK there are virtually no changes between CD/DVD versions except the disc swapping though.

However the DVD version of Zork Grand Inquisitor was one of those games that needed an MPEG-2 converter to get the improved graphics. So you might have the same problem with it that many people have with the DVD version of Tex Murphy: Overseer.

Ah, right, I didn't know that. That may explain why I can't find the extra disc.

It does indeed - but, you'll have to install the MPEG-2 decoder, otherwise you won't see any difference.
Unfortunately, I don't recall if it was included on the disc.

I managed to get mine going, Fnord, but it runs too fast. I can't remember if I tried a slowdown app with it.  I have handbrake at the moment) Can't you get it to run at all? Have you tried Inferno's procedure? http://www.home.earthlink.net/~infernofilecabinet4/XpSetupsU_Z/zorknemesis.htm

Status : Offline | Thanks for the link, but it sadly does not work for me. As soon as I try to install it (even if it is set to win95/98 compatibility mode) a small window pops up that says that the game can not run in NT, and the setup won't start.

Status : Online | I got myself a Grand Inquisitor DVD on eBay - though it doesn't have Nemesis included. "Offered only with Gateway computers. Not to be sold separately." is printed on the disc. So if you guys are looking for a DVD with both games on it: make sure it doesn't have these words printed on the disc.

Yep, that's exactly the problem I have. I can view the better quality videos on various media players (they're VOB files) but whenever I install the game it sais:

Could somebody tell me what program/drivers/whatever I need to install in order to make the game work with the improved videos?

Metzo still has a link to it -
DVD Express Download
It's the same program used to play the DVD version of Tex Murphy Overseer.

Status : Online | Okay, thanks a lot!!
I got it to install with the higher quality videos now, by installing that program first.
But anyway - the game doesn't play the videos now! I started the game by clicking "new game" on the launcher menu and all of a sudden I found myself already in front of Port Foozle! The "Propaganda in a parade" intro didn't show! What am I doing wrong?
(When I change the .ini file to low quality videos, it shows the ones from the CD version. But I'd really like to play the DVD version the way it's meant to be played! With enhanced quality!!)
Could it be I'm missing certain codecs or something?

The required codecs are in the mpeg decoder you downloaded. I don't recall if the intro was in the DVD version or not, maybe someone else remembers.
I'll see if I can find my DVD version and give it a look through.
IIRC the last time I played it I used Virtual PC, so that may have made a slight difference.
