Spoiler AlertI managed to clean the paintbrush with said thinner, and also ready it with ink, but I've found nothing upon which to daub said ink yet, to my dismay.

Status : Offline | As I've been stuck for a couple of days now, I thought I'd comment on a couple of strange things I noticed in Howard's apartment. First of all, what's with the door you can't enter? I mean, if it's nothing special (a kitchen would seem logical), why not say so? A door with no feedback ends up feeling very mysterious, like there's some old magic on the other side, and Howard is being made to not notice it.
Second, if he's in danger, with even his home not secure, wouldn't it make sense for Howard to take that gun he's got stashed away? He's gone to places where he's only narrowly escaped death---situations in which a firearm might in fact have helped, yet it's sitting in a drawer, "just in case"? Er, sure...
Third, about the ring:
Spoiler AlertAfter the dream when one takes the ring from the statue, wouldn't it make sense for Howard to be curious about it? Wouldn't he want to take it with him, make sure he has it on hand? It's not like it's heavy or difficult to conceal.
Just a few things I've been wondering about... [smiley=detective.gif]

Regarding the paintbrush:
Spoiler AlertOnce you've done something with the "putty" you might find a use for the paintbrush as well.

I'm dying to rather be playing a King's Quest game or Gabriel Knight 3.... :-/
If only this game would move faster! [smiley=hair_pull.gif]

If only this game would move faster! [smiley=hair_pull.gif] There's no need to be monogamous with that game, I think; it's not really that good.
I recently re-acquired Gabriel Knight 3 myself, after having heard good things about it from Colpet, so if you'd like to play that with me, I'd appreciate the company.  arkness Within, though nice enough, is just a little too obscure for me.

Whew! What a relief! [smiley=music.gif]
You are a knight in shining armour, JKing. :-* However, I don't think I'll be starting any new threads until I know that an attempted game works properly etc. :-[ *cough*
