This is the kind of game I fall in love with an end up whizzing it out the window into the neighbor's yard.
I will absolutely wait for a big bargain price on this one. (But I might peek at the screenies from time to time )

It's not Silent Hill scary, but had its moments. The scene near the Spoiler Alertlighthouse was really fucked up. I just didn't see any of it coming.
Darren was funny and didn't sound like a robot... unlike a certain other protagonist

It wasn't the voice that was the problem with Darren, it was his lousy petulant personality! I hated the way he couldn't stop yelling at people who were trying to help him. Made me want to slap him.
And by the way Spoiler Alerthow about the sick incestuous affair?

Darren is pretty young, isn't he? I accepted his hot-headness as a part of his personality. In any case, it didn't bother me.
As for your question, Spoiler AlertThat was a little messed up. However, Darren had no idea she was his sister, and we found out just how psychotic she was by the time they announced they were siblings. All in all, it was an interesting and brave move.
I forgot to mention, the 'main' twist was hardly a twist to me :[ Spoiler AlertDarren being Samuel's son - ever since the game was announced, I automatically assumed we'd get to play as his son. It was somehow logical to me that, if the main character is dead, you'd get to play as his heir. :/

Sorry you can't convert me I still hate Darren . He's not as young as you think by the way. He's in his mid twenties. He seems younger because he acts like a bloody teenager throughout the game.
Re the twist I thought Spoiler AlertDarren's mum was actually Catherine. As in she hadn't died in the fire but had been smuggled out of the country by Bates and was raising her son in secret to protect him from his father. I thought the whole cook story was a cover.

1.Does anyone know if BMII is of a similar difficulty to Overclocked:A history of violence?, because I found the puzzles fairly easy in that game, although I did get stuck once or twice.2.Also is it better or worst than Sanitarium which I thought was excellent; (until I had to reformat my pc, and wiped my save games off, towards the end of the game, boo hoo! :'()
3.And do you have to play Black mirror 1 to understand the plot of BMII?

2. It's not a bad game by any standards and once you reach England the mood picks up, but as far as inventiveness, bizarreness and sheer imagination it can't compare to Sanatorium. BM2 is a much more straightforward mystery.
3. You can play the game as a stand alone. The opening scene ties back to the first game and things are rather well explained. You get answers from some plot issues left unexplored/unresolved from the first game, but not the other way round. Saying that it was fun having played the first game- going back to the old locations and re-meeting characters was enjoyable.

I haven't got BM1 yet but I see alot of people on here don't rate it much but I'll give it a go when I get hold of it.

I don't think it's a question of that we didn't like BM1, so much as that a few of us were expecting more out of the game's ending.
I enjoyed playing through the actual game, and I'll make a plan soon to get hold of no. 2.

The story gets better and better as you progress in the game, suspense is there and it actually managed to scared me for real at least twice (or maybe im just not that brave..). The dialogues are great, you see Darren's personality evolve with the story, from immaturity during summer vacations to actual conscience at the end of the game. The environments are top quality, you really feel like you're in Britain with all those dark skies.
By the way, I did not play Black Mirror 1. I tried it but the graphics and voices really put me off... so for those who didn't like the first, you should give this one a try, definitely.
Out of curiosity, this game reminded me of Broken Sword 2 in at least two sections: Spoiler Alertwhen you're at the sewers and you're path is similar to a maze as you keep getting lost (reminds of the jungle in BS2) andSpoiler Alert when you're tied up in a chair by the Order and you have to set yourself free (who can't remember the very start of BS2?). Just thought it was funny to share.
Playing: Skyrim (ongoing)
Last Finished: can't recall, been too long.

Ines, I have to agree, the game was scary in places and I didn't really expect them to show certain things, likeSpoiler Alertthe maid's face, WHY WHY WHY
I agree about the 2nd BS2 thing you mentioned, I thought the exact same thing as well! Haha.Spoiler AlertI was a little disappointed there was no big black spider nor a hook to help me untie Darren :[

It reminds very strongly of Nina and her pranks in Secret Files, except that Darren and his fellow townsmen come across as even more juvenille and rude/agressive than Nina...

I thought it was a great game (for light entertainment) -- it's definitely not a puzzler, but still fun none the less.
I was a fan of the first so I guess I was in the right mood for it. The 3rd chapter is just around the corner –maybe you’ll like that one more.
Not a fan of Secret Files either? I didn't think it was that bad of a play.

| Deleted User | Well, I rather enjoyed the first Secret Files, although I agree to some extent with people about Nina being a bit too callous in her "solutions" to problems. Why I mentioned SF, was because so many people found Nina and her situations irritating and juvenille, while at the start of BM2, I was actually finding Darren worse.
Since I respect your opinion though, Inland, I'll clench my teeth and push on for a bit to see if it gets any better. I found the Post Office scenario especially irritating, btw.

It does get better from chapter 3 onwards but by that stage I hated him so much I was past caring. If you find Nina callous Spoiler Alertthere will be an incidence in BM2 where Darren does something that beats anything she would have done. At least he shows remorse though.

I play to escape most of the time. Entertainment is just what the doctor ordered for me.
