Their forum is a good one, as well, plus these are folks you'll see "live" in the Caverns.
If you're new to all this, please be patient with any technological problems you might have. The Technical threads at http://www.mystonline.com forums are excellent for help. Otherwise my advice is to keep it simple, find a buddy or two to explore with, and take your time. URU Live is much larger than it seems.

There is a strong social feature, where groups of explorers will host a dance or theme party with music, book readings, explorations, treasure hunts, comedy nights, and much more.
User-made content is supposed to be integrated this time, which will provide new Ages to explore and solve. I don't know much yet how this will be done, but I know these new Ages have been under development for a long time now.
To me, it is like stopping time to hang out in the environment of your favorite game with your good friends.
If you're looking for a full game that will hold your hand and and provide new challenges at every turn, this ain't it.

If you've played every version of the game so far, there won't be anything new in this download.
However, if you haven't, it includes the original material from the Ages Beyond Myst boxed game, the Path of the Shell expansion, and several Ages/worlds/puzzles that only existed in the online version of Uru Live.
I'm not entirely sure how to answer this without knowing your history of playing. But yeah, there's quite a bit of accumulated game material, especially if you haven't played all the versions of the game yet. For those of us who have, we'll be socializing and re-playing.

The multiplayer aspect is a genius thought of Rand Miller and was the first of the MMOs that now litter the game universe. URU is unique in my opinion and i have been watching and studying and playing it and the Myst series with fascination since 2003. You wont be dissapointed and i tend to disagree respectfuly with Halycon, there is MUCH to enjoy here on many levels, depending on your gaming style and goals.
Much.

Annacat, thank you also, I have played and enjoyed everything Myst so my suggestion to all the Online players is put a donation jar by the door so everyone can buck up, give the money to the Rand brothers so they can develop one more epic, real, game to play
CrisGer, thank you also for your perspective.

There most likely never be another stand alone Myst title. So enjoy what we do have.

While I have managed to log in three times today, I've tried at least thirty times; "Checking for patcher update..." is where you would usually expect it to hang. If you don't get bast that in three seconds or so, cancel it. If you don't even get past "Initializing updater...", check your process list in the Task Manager and kill UruLauncher.exe, then try again.

They seem to be accommodating those who have registered and downloaded, but there must be a max number that you can fall out of in certain circumstances. Otherwise it ran very smoothly. They'll sort it out, but keep trying.

Status : Offline | I too have a KI but it has no number. I gave myself the explorer name of Caroline and so far I'm dressed entirely in purple - but that is subject to change at a moment's notice. I found no greeters. I got on at 5pm local time and I know I'm 17 hours ahead of California.
Someone please calculate some group times.
