The current exchange rate is used by VISA or an other credit card company. Which means that with this cheap dollar, GOG's prices are extremely low

Yes I agree but my question is: We pay in $ and it is converted in € somehow? How do I see what I pay in €?

If you pay by credit card, the credit card company automatically converts it at the ruling exchange rate. You can look up the exchange rate at a site like this one: http://www.exchangerate.com/quick_calculator.html?calc_short_from_iso=USD&calc_short_to_iso=EUR&amount_from=1.00&XR-QuickConverter.x=40&XR-QuickConverter.y=7

On an unfortunate side note, I tried to make my first-ever purchase on the website and was not able to download the game, despite my payment going through >

I have the big box game of Riven I'm willing to give away for postage, for those who need it cheap without download.
Me, I love the downloads. Sometimes they don't "stick," but I've found the support from the sites to be very good.

Thank you for the tip Simo but unfortunately it doesn't work. There is nowhere on the site that registers that I purchased the game, it doesn't show up on the 'games I own' section or on the game page. I didn't even get a confirmation email that I purchased it... there's no record anywhere of my purchase, apart from my Paypal account that indeed confirms the payment went through

You should probably contact them through the "My orders and payments" form. Hope they can fix your order quickly!

If it's the 2nd option, those usually take a few days to process. The vendor doesn't even know about your purchase until the paypal route is complete, then the vendor is informed of the purchase.

I thought something like that might conceivably be the case with PayPal, but did not know for sure (and decided not to speculate).

Status : Online | Hi guys,
I paid with Paypal via credit card. I use my Paypal for everything and I've never had a problem before. Not only that, but I went ahead and subsequently purchased Uru: Complete Chronicles through GOG.com, and that purchase registered immediately, I was able to download the game within the next minute.
It's been almost four days now and I have yet to receive an email reply from GOG, despite the fact that I emailed them within minutes of realizing that something had gone wrong with the purchase. :-? Usually companies respond much more quickly to transaction issues than this.

Status : Online | Quick update - STILL have not received a reply from GOG (been over 5 days now). I emailed them again just now. Hopefully I shall get a response soon :-/ I've never had a transaction issue take so long to be resolved before. Quite frustrating, especially with their delectable new downloads (GK1, my fave).

Status : Online | An update -
After sending another email (this one with an admittedly irritated tone), I have received a reply a day later. They said that they would try to resolve the problem, but did not offer a refund (this is a practice I'm accustomed to, as a customer experiencing not only transaction difficulties but poor communication). I asked for a refund and will let you guys know what happens.
I feel a bit guilty asking for a refund since they are a small-ish company who have started a service I very much appreciate, but at the same time I feel I should be holding them up to the same standards I expect from other businesses. And almost a week without a word of contact after something has gone wrong with my money - that's just not on for me :-/

The only thing that has mildly concerned me with respect to ordering more, is that a 7 mb game download took quite a while at around 15 kbs / sec, while Big Fish and other downloads have been more than ten times faster.

Status : Offline | Hope everything turns out OK, Arkadia. Although I have yet to buy anything from them (the digital-only ownership of a game shocks a little with my love of big shiny boxes , although their catalog is becoming more tempting), from what I know they seem to care a lot for the clients and in general the clients seem to be very much pleased with them.
I would say that maybe they are a little overwhelmed right now with the recent Activison deal and maybe that is showing on customer relationships and server bandwidth...
UPDATE: Just found out that they seem to have a bug with their customer support service... some tickets were marked as solved... maybe it was what happened to you... :-?
