Nah ..... there are older ones (not me though, I'm 36 and 'young at heart'... ).
I'm not quite sure how the demographics are on this board. It would be interesting to see what the average age is here. A lot of the boardmembers are in their 20s but there are many more.

i'm 28 (will be in 2 months!)... one of the oldest in action forums, one of the youngest in adv forums!
You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

BTW: I tried to play Quake and even Max Payne (mainly because one of my collagues used to work in the developing team of that game) but got bored soon. Too much shooting!
Sometimes I feel a bit lonely with my "hobby". It seems that women of my age just do not play PC games. I don´t personally know anyone else. Sigh...

You really don't have to worry about being the oldest, I am as old as dirt!
I have been playing adventure games for about 15 years now. I also play action games, which I do enjoy from time to time. But I always seem to return to Adventure, not so stressful, I feel.
I do wish that GK4 would somehow appear, but very unlikly, I loved the other three. Its good to meet you.

| Deleted User | No, no. Not as "old as dirt" Enigma. That will never do. I seem to be older than all of you who have posted but I am very young at heart. Old adventure game players are like old wine and cheese - they improve with age.
I have three young grandsons and they think that their Granny is very cool - she plays computer games with them and can even teach them a few tricks.

Hyvvä (or something like that) seikkailija.
I have to say that I am "Puzzel": born 5 years before my country went over and started driving on the right side of the road. - Questions you have to consider to solve this puzzel: a) Wich country is he from? (Hint: look inside the forum) b) the actual year the event took place (hint: probably on the net)
Its really good with this age mixture in this great forum.
Sorry I forgot to;
WELCOME seikkailija to this great place in space!!

The boys are not interested... i don't know if it's a matter of age though... i was 13 when i started playing advs... it's mostly a matter of "how society is now" - everything as fast, superficial and mindless as possible, if you know what i mean... as for action games, i'm not much into fpss, but more into games like parasite eve, resident evil, silent hill, alice etc... i want the game to feature smth more than just shoot everything that moves (if i want that i go for some good old 16bit shoot em ups! )

Status : Offline | Hi seikkailija, Your are most certainly not anywhere near the oldest, think I am actually - lets just say I've at least 20 years on you. Age has nothing whatever to do with playing adventure games, I've been playing them since around 1993 - 4 now.
Welcome to the board - seems a good sort of mix of people and ages here, hope you enjoy it.

I know of no one personally that plays adventure games either, except for the members here. I can't even get my kids or husband into even watching me play them. What's the world coming to?? ?? :'(

| Deleted User | I have been playing adventure games for about 12 years. And I play the occasional round of SimCity or Civilization. I don't have anyone to play games with either. My husband plays Silent Hunter (submarine warfare) on occasion and he plays computer chess. My grandsons are in Maryland and we are living in North Carolina now so there is rarely the opportunity to play games with them. However, they played games sitting in my lap when there were very small and we still play when we are together. Unfortunately, adventures are not their thing. They like driving games, sports games, some of the shooters and Roller Coaster Tycoon. I love playing the driving games with them and Tycoon also. I avoid the shooters as I am hopeless at them. My sons are game players too - mostly action and strategy.
I don't miss having someone to play with as I have never had the experience. I have several good email friends who are big adventure devotees, one in the UK, one in Australia and one in the US. We have never tried to team on a game. I know that some people play back and forth over the Internet but I don't think that I would like that. Too long between turns for my pleasure. And I haven't tried an online game. Most of them are RPG's and they don't push my buttons right now. But I am thinking about trying a regular RPG in the near future.
I am an advocate of keeping an active mind at all ages. Games, books, films, travel, friends, cooking, etc. I think that age is more a state of mind than anything else. I have met 30 year olds who seemed very old indeed and we have a 78 y/o neighbor who could probably run circles around most of us. BTW, she plays games too.

Harriet, some folks I know who play remotely generally play at least two games at a time. One they play remotely, exchanging emails (people try to keep more or less in sync with the others as to where they are in the game), the others they play by themselves. Of the people I've talked to who play with other people, they all find playing adventure games with email friends to be a positive experience.
As for me, I can't play with anyone. I'm a really intermittent gamer, and I like to use walkthroughs. Usually, when you play with other people, you don't use walkthroughs, your game buddies provide the hints!
All for now.
Regards, mszv
