Deleted UserHi everybody; let's post screenies of our favourite Morrowind mods.  I'll start off with a few.

This is to show my better heads mod: Vardenfell Visages.

..and just to show that Morrowind isn't really as dark as all those interiors:

Deleted UserTwo more dark ones, one of the Ald' Ruhn mages guild,

and one of my favourite towns, Seya Neen, at night time.

I think Seyda Neen  is special to me, because it's the little village where the game starts off, and you set foot in Morrowind.
One of the things I like about Morrowind's night time, is that it's not too dark to see anything, and also, people don't just frustratingly disappear like they do in some other games..

Apologies, I see my screenies are a bit large, I try to post smaller ones from now on.

A use a different head mod than the one Traveller uses, and we're both quite stubborn about which is better, but both packages have the same head defined for Galbedir, and we both agree it's beautiful.
 Witness:

Also represented in the above screenshot is Ice's robe replacer, with meshes by NioLiv.  Generally I tend to only use cosmetic mods, or mods which only add inert components, like these domesticated cats in Balmora and other populated areas:

I'll post some more a little later.

Deleted UserNote that JKing has the vanilla textures going there. I feel my texture mod is a great improvement, and I like my wall hangings better than the vanilla ones too- I got some nice rugs and bedspreads too..

JKing has a lovely clothing mod, though, that I was too stubborn to use because I was fiddling around with other ones, though my clothes in these pics look like the vanilla ones most of them.

I think I shall put it on too, now finally JKing....
  :-[

And wait! You forgot to tell us the name of your heads mod!

Ah, so I did!  It's 'Better Heads'.  It's venerable, and perhaps not the best in terms of the quality of individual heads, nor does it contain any more variety than the stock heads, but I find it the most consistent, still.  Ah, well.

I use a variety of mods to improve the appearance of things, for bodies and heads, Better Bodies and Better Heads,...and then a few hair and clothing tweaks to give a very nice blend of lore and realism:

here is Hilda, my favoirite companion and one of the in game characters too...

I also have used the mods that re create Morrowind into much more of a realistic landscape, which I know i differ from others here, but i love the feel of green grass, and trees, and so have redone things in that direction.... and a few tweaks to the base textures....and an improved water mod...

Vivisec at Night

Marr Gann

and i use a retexure for the caves and caverns, i just could not stand that patchwork tweek looking texture for the natural caves...this one is by a fellow with the unfortunate name of Spewboy but you can find it under that name in any of the Morrowind mod places...

Deleted UserSince I love  the original Morrowind vegetation, I've had to remove or adapt many of the texture and area mods that I've tried, since they changed the trees and plants and I don't want that.

However, when it comes to Solstheim, it's a different matter: the vanilla trees are downright ugly.

So Chris, I'm hoping that those Solstheim trees of yours is a seperate mod just for Solstheim?  If so, would you mind giving me the name?

Also, I simply adore the look of Balmora in your shot third from the top.. 8-)  - I just MUST have that one... name please!

ok Traveller, i must first re install and then dig a bit, but i will try to get you info on both, i tried a lot of differnt town textures to get that Balmora, many were too dark, but this one was just right i felt, has a sunny and open feeling, and makes that a happy place.

I dont remember about the trees in Solstheim but i know i do have Thirsk Expanded by Princess Stomper and another ...but i will have to dig

do you use Wyre Mash for balanacing mods?  Also MGE (Morrowind Graphics Extender) ?

btw, JKing i too love the kitties of Morrowind and they do help keep down the rodent population too, and give enhanced life points thru the magic of pats

Please take your time, Chris - no rush.
Whenever you have the time and inclination would be fine.

Nope. I don't use that many mods yet - just for 'looks' at this point, so I don't really need managers- and I make up my own texture packs from bits and pieces of online packs.
What does the extender do?  In fact, what exactly do both of those do?

oo, i found Korana's stash of Morrowind mods, 84 of em, she is/was one of the greatest of all modders and did some wonderful companions, houses, clothes, and more...

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27167

Wyre Mash makes sure mods work properly together and refreshes the game map, helpful with things when you have many mods or some of the more complex ones that open up the world space.  MGE ehances some of the graphics qualities of the engine and makes things run for some of the more complex mods, neither are needed to enhance things but both help when the install gets large.

OK Traveller, i am looking at textures now and i think that Balmoral that i have had is from either Vibrant Morrowind 2.0 (NOT 3.0) or Mixed Textures:

Vibrant MOrrowind 2.0

Morrowind Texture Replacer Comparison

http://web.archive.org/web/20080822053650/http://ltm.ufrealms.net/textpacks/

I do distincltly remember it was a brighter pack but i had to save the default Imperial Textures for the forts because every pack makes the forts waaay too light, Ditto Vivec.

Deleted UserI'm busy having a look at it now on the Nexus, and I don't like that they've made most of the trees look so conventional, but i'll probably end up picking it apart again, and removing the textures and meshes that I don't like.

Living with conventional trees for a while might even be bearable just to experience all those other cool textures...

Traveller i was wrong about that suggestion being the Balmora texture you liked,

I FOUND IT

it is Better Looking Morrowind by MistyMoon, a very nice and balanced texture retex of lots of MW.

Deleted UserHeh, contrary to what I thought would happen, (thought I'd be playing Divinity 2) I think my designated gaming time this Christmas is going to be spent fiddling with Morrowind mods...

Notwithstanding that Chris has made me want to fiddle with these mods, I also think it's the non-idiomatic, wooden translation to English and voice-acting in Divinity 2 that is putting me off of the game...

Deleted UserThanks for Better Looking Morrowind... (will report more on it when I've had time to travel to all the areas to see what it does)
...but listen Chris, I don't have grass, let alone waving grass..  I'd really like the Ascadian Isles to look a bit prettier.

In my personal humble opnion, its rather silly (I think) to make a mod that pretties up the Ashlands, since it is part of the story that that part should be barren and uninhabitable.  So putting green trees there, is totally out of character with the essence of the area.

On the other hand, I cannot see why the Azuran coast and the Bitter coast and the Ascadian Isles and the Grasslands cannot be as pretty as possible, - though each keeping within it's own character of course - such as the Bitter coast must still be swamp and the other parts keep their nice huge mushrooms, etc.

Yes - so i'd like a mod that can give grass to the AI and the Grasslands, you know.  Know of any in specific?

Sorry for the bother

ah, sorry ..ys, the Better looking Morrowind is JUST for the Haluuu textures for Balmora, i would not think you would want the Ashlands to be green

but there ARE lovely other ones that do green up the areas that are suppsoed to be green. That will take a bit of digging but we will figure it out
and the animated grass add on of MGE will i am sure do that too, with real waving grass in the right places...i suspect. but there is a link to a list of pictures of differt texturep packs and we willstart there

here it is....

http://web.archive.org/web/20080822053650/http://ltm.ufrealms.net/textpacks/

I will get on it very soon, at least we found the good Balmora, it is very nice.

Deleted UserSorry, Chris, it seemed to me from the descriptions I read that it would..  and actually it does give you a lot of very green leaves on some trees in the ashlands, but I really like those Balmora textures and colours.  Very nice, thank you!

I'll keep it for that at the very least..   :-*
