I love the idea and am really interested in applying it in mod work I am working on a project to add an entire city to the game that Bethesda did not have time to finish, it will be restored fully soon, we have almost all the interiors done and are working on the landscaping... here is one of my interiors: and i found a very nice new set of armor for my companion Valeria, she gets cranky if i don't treat her to something nice and she seems to like this one, judging by her expression in one of these pics i think if i tried to take it back i would lose an arm at least lol we are all looking forward to Skyrim in the modding community, there will be a new construction set so we will be able to fully mod it just as we have OB. There are a ton of wonderful enhancements for OB enough for a life time and i expect to go on playing and modding it for the rest of mine. And as I said, once i had her installed ...this particular companion is very testy...and i would not want to test her patience. Oh, no! Let's focus on...." Yes, I know how it goes. Just kidding. I realize it isn't about gender at all. You're just testing weaponry, right? _________________ |

Terry PenrodGrand Inquisitor![]() Posts : 6693 Joined: 16 OCT 2004 Location: US, Texas Status : Offline | . I downloaded and installed the original Dibella's Watch quest mod for Oblivion and it has a serious bug that prevents me from accessing the ship in Anvil. I got the proper text message about starting the quest, but the key NPC on the dock is just a big, bright yellow blob with what appears to be a distorted exclamation mark. You can get the character's name and an action cursor, but clicking on him totally crashes the game. So I downloaded and installed the most recent update / patch and followed the instructions carefully for disabling some of the old data files and arranging the loading sequence with Oblivion Mod Manager. But that did not fix the problem and unfortunately, this it looks like a complete deadend. Too bad because it sounds like a good one... Cheers, Terry |

There were some missing quest arrows on the maps too. Otherwise, everything worked fine, looked good, and the voice acting was above average. So at this point, I have finished both official Oblivion EPs, all the Thieves Guild / Dark Brotherhood quests, plus several of the top-rated big quest mods and am about ready to move onto another game. Too bad I've also pretty much exausted Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas with all the DLCs for both as well as all things Gothic and the original Two Worlds. For RPGs, I'm considering Mass Effect 2, Drakensang + EP, Divinity 2, the Two Worlds sequel, and The Witcher 2. Just can't decide whether to go for yet another medieval fantasy setting with swords, bows and spells or a sci-fi / space theme with laser weapons, lightsabers and force powers. Or maybe I'll just grab a few more (recent) PC adventure games and a couple of additional shooters... Cheers, Terry |

If you want value for money, as in a long game with quite a varied and relatively unique experience, go for Dragon Knight Saga (=  iv2 + expansion). If you want gameplay similar to Dragon Age/ the D & D games, then try Drakensang. I still need to do 2W2 myself. ...but since you enjoy sci-fi and shooters, you might enjoy ME2. In some respects it's rather dissimilar to the first game in gameplay (and rather closer to a shooter), but you like shooters, so that should be fine. * * * Just call me Trav. * * * “Despite my ghoulish reputation, I really have the heart of a small boy. Think I'll save The Witcher 2 for later as a sure thing, because all the reviews have been excellent and it's the most recently released RPG on my list. Also, Mass Effect 2 is a given at some point soon. I loved the first game despite all those dumb, clunky driving sequences and evidently, the sequel has none of that crap. So it should be even more enjoyable with gameplay that's closer to KOTOR. (Why they don't just use optional mouselook to smoothly, intuitively steer vehicles left/right in shooters and horses in RPGs like you do on foot or with most flight segments is beyond me.) Of the remaining three slightly older RPGs, which all have fantasy themes, I want to read a bit more about gameplay specifics and watch some additional videos. The combat in Divinity 2 looks like a lot fun and becoming a dragon knight sounds pretty cool too. But I understand Drakensang has some real depth that makes up for the flaws and I really enjoyed the wide-open feeling of Two Worlds' universe (much like a cross between Oblivion and Gothic). Once the extra homework is done, I'll just let my mood decide... Cheers, Terry |

TravellerGuild Master![]() ![]() Posts : 4040 Joined: 3 JUL 2010 Location: US Status : Offline | Yes, I'd say that the strength of Drakensang lies in the fact that there is quite some depth and complexity in the RPG system. (Based on the German Dark Eye tabletop RP games). It doesn't quite have the character depth and amusing dialogue that is typical of the Bioware games, though. Please let us know what you think of Two Worlds 2 when you get around to playing it, won't you? * * * Just call me Trav. * * * “Despite my ghoulish reputation, I really have the heart of a small boy. FnordSchattenjger![]() Posts : 2752 Joined: 15 SEP 2008 Location: SE, Stockholm Status : Offline | Drakensang has become quite a hit among people who play a lot of CRPGs, due to its deep character customization. If you feel that the first one feels a bit unrefined (long travel times, difficulty spikes and slightly disjointed story), but like the core system, then I would recommend giving River of Time a shot, it fixes almost all of the issues that the original game had (though it is quite hard to find the game). HalcyonSchattenjger![]() ![]() Posts : 1652 Joined: 17 NOV 2006 Status : Offline | Back to Oblivion..... I'm playing a mod called Glenvar Castle. Two quests are involved before you can claim ownership to the HUGE castle, and wow are the quests challenging! Bring your best weapons and water breathing skills. I played through the Bartholm mod, too, and that was a blast. Lots quests and interesting characters. _________________ |

Wouldn't count on the latter though as they are notoriously bad about updating the main website to reflect actual merchandise at individual retail outlets. Additionally, Direct2Drive.com currently lists downloadable versions of the original game for $9.99 and the sequel for $19.99. Amazon.com also lists some options for both games with separate, new or used DVD versions ranging from $8.99 to $19.95 USD + shipping. Might just get the sequel if it's simply better than (lacks most of the problems in) the original game. I mean, life's too short to wade through all that muck when a new, improved path is available. If you like what you see in River of time, you can just play the original game, while it has a few more flaws, I still found it to be one of the best CRPGs that has come out in the last couple of years. Mass effect might have had a better story, but Drakensang had a better system. Current Let's Play: Crusader: No Remorse |

Terry PenrodGrand Inquisitor![]() Posts : 6693 Joined: 16 OCT 2004 Location: US, Texas Status : Offline | . Thanks, Fnord... that really helps make the decision easier. Since it's a prequel, think I'll just grab The River of Time from D2D and give the game a whirl. Actually played Gothic 2 before the original Gothic - even though it was a direct sequel. Then decided to play the first title despite some well-documented issues about clunky controls because I liked the game world and story so much. That also made Gothic 3 and its EP seem much more complete as the end of an epic adventure. As far as Mass Effect, Divinty 2, Two Worlds 2 and The Witcher 2 are concerned, I've already played all the original games in those franchises and a whole new RPG sounds good right now. Also decided to (finally) download Gray Matter from JA+ and will probably alternate between it and Drakensang: TRoT while pecking away at a long list of PC action titles missed over the past seven-plus years since my last big FPS binge. So far, I've finished the original Far Cry, Painkiller Black Edition, all of the Half-Life 2 Orange Box package, and most of the original BioShock. Have liked them all in their own individual ways and plan to keep fragging high-res baddies for as long as it takes to catch up. But wow is the old trigger finger rusty, so it's going to take a while... Cheers, Terry |
