I just charged and defeated the Gatekeeper. Now I must choose...the land of Mania or the land of Dementia. I need a boost....so Mania here I come.

Anyway, I followed the instructions she gave me for enabling screenshots, and wanted to tell her that they work.
I'll post some screenshots soon. I was busy doing all the quests that would enable me to become a member of the Mage's guild, but I've become sidetracked with a few other sidequests here in Anvil - got tricked by a bunch of no-good.. er.. ladies..

I might re-start Fallout 3...or a new game. But haven't found it yet.
I add that I also looked closely at Morrowind, but the graphics turned me away. I'm thrilled that MOrrowind inspired future games, but like most older games, it is not comfortable to look at.

There are some mods and updates that make Morrowind much better.
Can share details if interested.

Status : Offline | Thanks Chris. I've looked over the Morrowind mods. Honestly, I don't like the look of most of them--the modern faces and hairdos, etc. just don't fit the game.
Plus this kind of warning on one mod site puts me off juuuust a bit:
WARNING!!! This is not a list of compatible mods. Some mods may and will conflict with others. Read the readmes and start small to avoid problems. Some of these mods still need to be "cleaned" of Evil GMSTs. Remember, -always- backup your files (Data Files, Save Games, and Morrowind.ini especially) before messing around with mods. Also, take note that some items on this list could be outdated the minute after I release the list. Be sure to check the date at the top of the page.

Sadly I'm rather short on time, but will post some pics as soon as I can, to give you an idea, and if you like it, and if you're interested, I can e-mail you the actual packs.

Hmm, not too sure why the last one looks so jagged. I cannot remember when I took these screenshots, they were already in a file that I put my screenshots in. I'll take some fresh ones later.
EDIT: Regarding the warning you had quoted; - this is definitely not the case with old and established mods, but one can get carried away, since there are literally hundreds and hundreds of Morrowind mods, and of course the more different mods from different sources you use, the bigger your chances are of some of them conflicting. It is, however, quite possible to use just one or two basic mods and texture packs that were meant to enhance the original look of Morrowind, to give you a quite pleasing look without losing the basic essence of the game.

For now, I"ll pass, though. I'm not a tinkerer. The last game I spent hours trying to make look half-decent was Blade Runner. I succeeded to de-pixelate it as much as anyone could, I guess, but it still remained an old game, with rusty movements and conventions. The plot was great, but I can read a book for that.
Anyway, thanks. I'll keep your offer in mind

Have you tried Gothic III? it is a remarkable open world like OB and even has the added improvment and special quality in that EVERY line is spoken, your character actually says things to other charcters in the game. That makes it a lot of fun and the world is even more detailed than OB, though of a differnt and more german approach to 3D worlds.
Anachornox also would be fun for you i think, it is older but quite beautiful in its own way and tons of fun, and it is a HUGE game, many entire worlds to explore and they dont skimp on the detail.
Another interesting and older game, well two, are Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines with an unparalleled world and the dark side you can realtively ignore...and also Mafia I, if you can get it to run , has a huge 3D world set in the 1920s with entire cities full of bustling life, a remarkable look at a older ttime. I will think about other games that you may enjoy. think think.

Anachornox has interest for me, but not a lot.
I'm staying away from older games for the time being. I want to enjoy myself, rather than spending time "fixing" graphics and playing with mods. I truly don't enjoy that.
I have wonderful novels waiting to be read. I might just dive in, then wait for the games I'm anticipating, like Gray Matter, Face Noir, and a few others.

Hi Mystibob! Traveller here. I had a little accident with a mouse, my finger, and the "delete this user profile" button. No big deal. Just 6373 posts gone...
Anyway, glad to hear you got it working. So now we're looking forward to see what you look like while adventuring in Ob.

Anyway, I'm bad, I know, because I haven't posted any screenshots yet.
I actually wanted to ask a favour. I feel I am now ready to move on to mods that make the people in the game look better. ..but I really only want basic mods, like what Traveler had mentioned for Morrowind.
I did look at the other thread, the "mods for Oblivion thread, but my courage deserted me when I saw the lists and lists.
Chris, I would be much obliged if you could point me to just a basic one or 2 mods that will give the heads and bodies a better look.
I promise I'll post a screenshot or 2 soon.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your lost posts. Can't the site admin bring it back for you? While I am neither a wizard with YaBB nor a moderator here, as far as I know it's not possible. Anyway, she seems to be doing a fine job making up for the loss so far.

I'm all for cosmetic mods, but anything more is just too much for me, since I've barely played the game. Thinking about it now, I may want to try playing Oblivion again. If you do come up with some nice simple mods, I think I might join you, sir.
Chris, can you help us out---preferrable without overwhelming us? :-[

Next noob question. How do I get to photograph myself? I can see that 'R' puts me into 3rd person, but I cannot seem to get my camera loose so I can see my handsome face from the front.

Erm... it seems that Traveler must have quoted verbatim from this spot (in your link) on the advice she gave me 2 pages or so back, JKing, and to which I replied on July 2.
...so, since I have all of that worked out by now, I now wanted to know how to take a pic of myself in full frontal mode. :
Thanks for the advice anyway.

Sadly I have absolutely no skill at making faces in games; my girlfriend always tells me they're ugly for one reason or another, and while I can't disagree too strongly, it is discouraging that I can't get a little beauty. Oblivion seems particularly bad for that because the faces always look so blotchy and/or washed out because of the lighting. Ah, well...
