Hey, that will be nice!  In the meantime, I've started a human noble, and already taken a screenshot or two.  I want to try out a few of the "Origins" stories before I go too far into the main story. Main storywise, I am now in the wilds, getting ready to be inaugurated as a Grey Warden.

oh that sure is smart. the feeling of the origins mage story is feeling a bit harry potter to me so i wanted to know how it was like to start in other human classes... so if you dare care to shed me some lights on the human noble's story?

I have only played the Mage and Human Noble storyline and both were great to me.

with the Noble storyline it's more centered around your family/life in the castle and betrayal.

You also get the dog early on with this origin story.

Human wise I realy wish they'd have offered us another story. Not that it isn't good, but I would have liked my main human character to have came from "lesser" roots and such, been a nomad or lived on the streets/in the wild or something more myseterious. All of the other races both have 2 origin stories a piece with the humans only getting one (not counting the magi origin which I assume is the same for both Humans and  Elves).

Deleted UserWell, anyway, the first one I did, was that tribal Elf one, which was rather nice.  (That's the one with the red hair.  My human noble is a blondie
)  You run through the woods and do a dungeon , where you fight some darkspawn.  As a tribal Elf, you are a bit of an outcast, and your people tend to hate humans, though  they're still prepared to fight alongside humans when it comes to darkspawn.

I don't want to tell too much in case it might be considered a spoiler? Or won't it?

Well, I've played a bit on into the wilderness, just to see how a warrior fits in, and the party seems a bit warrior-heavy.  At least we have a rogue; but I was wondering if one keeps this same party, or do you get a mage later on?

If not, I might want to play as a mage myself, then.

ohh I guess the Noble story seems more interesting for me

the mage story basically starts in the Mage Quarters, then you have to do the Harrowing quest and you get back to the Quarters, solve some intrigues and then you're ready to start the game outside. That's basically it.  :-/

Are you talking about the Wilds you go into in order to become a gray warden?

If so, (Spoiler warning)

Spoiler AlertOut of that group it's only Allister that will become a main party member.  Then after him you get the mage and shortly after you get a rogue and also a 2h warrior

I really need to get a healer in my party though, that's my main weakness right now.  Problem is I want to keep Morrigan in it cause well, it's Claudia Black doing her voice work (Aeryn Sun on Farscape).

Stiler, you.... heh..  well, that's so cute.  Makes me feel a lot less silly that I wanted to choose dual-wielding just cause it "looks" cool.  8-)  Anyway, you go for it, guy. What's the use of playing a game if we can't indulge ourselves a little , and do all we can to make it a more enjoyable experience, eh?

Let me divulge one of my embarassing little secrets: For the longest time I'd had this "thing" for Viggo Mortensen who played Aragorn in the Lord Of The Rings movies, so I would just watch any old movie that he was playing in, just to... well, just to see him...
    [smiley=blush.gif]

um.. where was I?   <.<

Oh, er.. I was going to ask Ines why her images look so squished. What resolution are you using, Ines?   :

Deleted UserAnyway, a quick portrait of my human girl, who looks rather different from my elf.  I'm stuck with the same hairstyle, but decided to go with tatts for a change (since I'll never go for tatts in real life- so what the heck -- let it all hang out in my games).

Heh, after Stiler made us realise that you can change they eye-colour, I managed to give this one blue eyes.  When I do the mage, I'll give her dark hair and try for green eyes.. dunno if I could bear any of the other hairstyles, tho.

I went for a "cute" look with the human, tho I don't like how the mouth came out.
The mage will be a lot less cute, and hopefully more mysterious.  :

Deleted UserNo, it doesn't look "bad", just sort of long and narrow, (to me anyway) if you know what I mean, as if the aspect ratio was a bit out.  Are you quite sure it is 1024 x 768 in-game, tho? Just wondering - it doesn't really look "bad" and of course you should play at the resolution that you are happy with.

Maybe it's just the angle that your character is turned at, that makes it look like that to me?

Btw, I'm busy doing the mage thingie myself now.

how did you manage to give your human green eyes??

Well, it's rather hard to see the difference between blue and green - I think I might have given my human green eyes, and my elf-mage blue eyes, but anyway..  :
-while you are choosing the eye colour, tilt your character at different angles- left and right and up and down, while all the time carefully looking at the eyes, and you'll se a little glimmer of colour at some angle - but put the colour about 3 notches from the left first - that should be more or less either blue or green.  (To make sure it's not on black while you tilt it.)

Their eye-colour tends to show up during screenshots, so that'll be the first when you know if you chose correctly....

Deleted UserWow!  Is that "you" against the wall, facing the camera, Ines?  Gee, how did you manage to get yourself so beautiful? I'm rather jealous, I couldn't get any of my ladies looking that good.

I started the city elf story as a male rogue for a change, and then I realized halfway in that I'm really struggling with combat as a rogue.  So I might restart that scenario.

Here's my mage:

Sadly, I find the mages to be rather flimsy, even when using a magical shield.  A pity, because you get alot of fun spells.

Here is my Elf rogue.  I actually found the backgrounds for the "slums" very attractively done.

um.. what the heck does that mean?   :-[

Hmm, not sure what that means. I know that you have to be logged into your EA account for DLC to work/show up.

Just wondering if you are trying to get it during a game you already started?

Hmm, just go to the downloadable content section on the main menu then click on the "installed" content or such and see what it says. If it lists it there and it's checked it should be fine then.

Hm. It shows there that I've downloaded it, but not installed it... er... so how do I install it?
I don't even know where the file went..?    :-?

In-game in the DLC menu it should d/l for you once you clicked it to from the "available" list.

If you did that then it should be in the last tab to the right and have installed by itself once downloaded. If it's there make sure it's enabled (check marked).

I just got Shale into my party this evening, also found some neat armour going through it (not sure if it was random or part of the CE, the helmet appears on the thumbnail for the CE icon so I assume it's with that).

Wow, great screengrabs.  Man, I wish I liked fighting games.  I'm missing a lot of wonderful places.

Sorry, I missed that q, Ines.  You need to open your inventory screen to change around your slots without "using" them.

Yes, Halcyon, some of these RPG's have lovely scenery and backgrounds. Have a look at the Drakensang and Rise of the Argonauts threads as well, some really lovely scenery and graphics in those games.  8-)

Some of the stories are pretty good as well. I'm really enjoying the personal interaction and personal stories of the characters in my party.
They all have distinct personalities too. Morrigan, my mage, is being a real b*tch towards Alistair, quite a sweet guy, who is turning out to have been an orphan - I'm still delving into his personal history.

Btw, I wonder if Morrigan's spells are random? My Morrigan came with zero long-range spells, they're all short, medium or personal.   :'(

You can develop her path into what spells she has as you lv up.

I grew attached to having Morrigan + Allister + Leliana as my party members so I developed them around that.

Since I didn't want to have Wwyne in my party (the healer you'll get) I developed Morrigan to get a heal and also around disables (which are extremely helpful in group battles, probably the most useful skill).

In any large battle  I have Allister run in first, attract all the attention and use taunt to get the enemies on him. Then I cast force field which is a magic ability that surrounds him with a field of energy that allows no atacks through (magic or physical) however it does make him immobile and unable to move/attack. Then after this I will simply run around him with my berserker/mage/rogue killing everyone. I bust out the Cone of Ice to take enemies down fast (crits instantly kill them in that state).

I'm working my way up  to crushing prision and then focusing on finishing the Ice line and fire line of spells.

I wish the shapeshifting was more useful though. Getting the bear form and things aren't really worth it.

Deleted UserHm since I don't really find Leliana useful beyond her bard song, I might want to keep Wynne instead of her.

Why I didn't like the spells that Morrigan came with, is that my own mage and that mage that did the tower of Ishal with you, both had better spells. I like the shapechanger thingie, though.

btw, my character is indeed gorgeous Traveller but I have to admit I used a pre-rendered face and worked from there... it wasn't a work from scratch!

In any case,  good luck with your city elf - I think you forgot to tell us if she's a warrior or a rogue?
