StilerJourneyman![]() Posts : 1461 Joined: 27 SEP 2004 Location: US, TN Status : Offline | Someone help me with Orzammar and "Paragon of her kind?" Spoiler AlertI have to decide which king to side which. I think Bhelens views are better (IE abloish the caste system, more surface trade, etc) however it seems that he's dirty and lying about everything, the notes to give to those two people are forged and i persuade his man to tell me the truth and he still tells me to do it to show my "loyality." Meanwhile playing with Harrowmont his quests seem more good/true, no lying or doing bad things) however he seems like the worse ruler in his viewpoints (sticks to the old, doesn't wanna abolish the caste system or trade with the surface). So, still going with Bhelen will I lose anything or what? |

You see, if you do play the Dwarf noble origin, you would have had a personal vendetta against one of those two rulers for personal reasons, that become clear while you are playing the origin... So I'd say go ahead, and choose Behlen if you like. [smiley=shrug.gif] I feel reasonably sure that you won't personally lose anything, it will just affect the story (how the story winds up) at the very end of the game - and only for the dwarves, i doubt very much it would affect your character. I'm wondering what difference things would make if one played the dwarf commoner. That's an origin i have not touched yet. | Deleted User | Guess my choice may have resulted in better consequences but I probably won't find out. :-/ Overall I found DAO to be an incredible adventure and at a cost of $0.28/hr play time, quite a bargain. I just don't have a clue as to what I ought to play next. |

TravellerGuild Master![]() ![]() Posts : 4040 Joined: 3 JUL 2010 Location: US Status : Offline | Apparently it happens now and then with EA, but then not for long... this is why I hate "activation" type games. Sometimes I just put a crack on my games to things easier. It also helps with not having to fiddle with discs and disc drives all the time when you want to change from one game to another. I haven't played DA for a while, but things like this really make me cross. > * * * Just call me Trav. * * * “Despite my ghoulish reputation, I really have the heart of a small boy. | Deleted User | I suppose I could forgive them for screwing me over for $7.00 had I known at the outset that there was a strong possibility the DLC wouldn't be allowed to run. What I can't is for the embarrassingly huge amount of time wasted in anticipation pursuing the solution through forums and five dialogues with tech support responders who couldn't seem to answer my most basic questions. The last straw was when I was told to manually uninstall and re-install the original game only to discover that after replacing my save folder back where it’s supposed to go, well, load game is no longer even selectable. TravellerGuild Master![]() ![]() Posts : 4040 Joined: 3 JUL 2010 Location: US Status : Offline | Noooo! That's horrible! Which DLC is this, Awakening ? Well, but did you back your gamesaves up to a different place, before you uninstalled? Sounds like it, so if you make a current save with a new game, perhaps you can still salvage them... Try to play the actual game, (start a new game) and then you access the load screen from there, but say you want to choose a different avatar. Hopefully you will then be able to find your old avatar like that. I had a similar problem with loading my old saves, when I played with different avatars, and I solved it as described above. Prompting the game to let me choose a different avatar from ingame, allowed me to access my other avatars with their appropriate savegames. * * * Just call me Trav. * * * “Despite my ghoulish reputation, I really have the heart of a small boy. | Deleted User | DLC is Witch Hunt. Funny, I just created a new character (Dalish Elf) and have saved the game and successfully loaded it. Now why doesn't the new name appear in the characters folder with the others...hmmm. I'll have to look into this some more. At least now I have some sort of clue. THX |

TravellerGuild Master![]() ![]() Posts : 4040 Joined: 3 JUL 2010 Location: US Status : Offline | Oh, good. Yes, if I use old saves in a new system, I always create a new game and save first, so that I can see exaccetly where the saves should go, and that usually also "sets" the game to enable the load screen. Well, hopefully you'll come right if you fiddle around a bit, so good luck! | Deleted User | I find it does help a lot if I place the character folders in the DAO Documents folder rather than the main game folder. When I first started DAO I didn’t create an account since the game told me that I wasn’t connected to the internet, odd as I had it running in the background, but seemingly not a big deal at the time as it wasn’t required to run the game. It would be nice to know if the Awakening expansion pack also requires DAO internet connectivity similar to DLC’s in order to import your DAO player as well??? |

TravellerGuild Master![]() ![]() Posts : 4040 Joined: 3 JUL 2010 Location: US Status : Offline | Hmm, - not sure, since I was connected anyway with all of them. Though, with Awakening, I did have to go through a rigmarole to import my character, and the DLC items  like the Blood Armour) disappeared, and I arrived into the Awakening world nekked . Just before a fight, too. : I actually haven't finished Awakening yet, but felt I needed a bit of a break from DA. Perhaps I'm ready to return, but I'm pretty intrigued with FO: New Vegas now after I'd read the IGN review of it. So now I'm vacillating in empty space atm. Anyway, shout if you have probs with Awakening. ...and I'm glad to hear that by the sounds of it, you got the old gamesave loading down pat now? * * * Just call me Trav. * * * “Despite my ghoulish reputation, I really have the heart of a small boy. The main reason is that simply you'll find better equipment in awakening, and fairly soon into it as well. |

Supposedly I'm told that importing your character is achieved through a DAO game save but perhaps it's not quite as simple as that. We'll see. |

TravellerGuild Master![]() ![]() Posts : 4040 Joined: 3 JUL 2010 Location: US Status : Offline | Well, yes, when you start Awakening, it asks you if you want to start a new game, or import any of your old characters, and you can choose any of your old characters from earlier saves. IIRC it will automatically use the last save you had for that character. IIRC it will be sufficient if you have the Awakening expansion enabled just the same way you had any of the smaller DLC's enabled. * * * Just call me Trav. * * * “Despite my ghoulish reputation, I really have the heart of a small boy. | Deleted User | Yup, and if you click 'advanced' you can choose from any save file created during DAO. I didn't wake up in my birthday suit but I did discover I could cast spells with the new crossbow that was apparently equipped instead of the staff I wielded in DA. Don't know about that but my inventory screen has just what I really needed to switch weapons and get back on task. 8-) After killing a number of darkspawn here and about it's time to get a sense of what is still going on in this wonderous world.... You know darn well that I'd like you along with Awakening, but no, honestly please don't let me tempt you, I truly won't at least for now, well uhm until the situation arises. My gaming philosophy: finish the games that you have and those you have enjoyed the most and let the rest of the stockpiles of games go until it's 'their' time, even the ones that you have purchased. My order of Fallout 3 GOTY is still on backorder and for the time being that's all right with me. Lots and lots of time for that one I can anticipate for me before I decide if FANV is really a huge hit that I might enjoy sometime in the future as well. |

[smiley=angel_smiley.gif] I'll put off playing Dark Flight a bit longer, I think, and pay attention to this and Arcania. You might find that there's a bit of a glut of darkspawn to start the expansion off with, but you soon find new friends and old ones, and a little surprise regarding a companion quite soon. * * * Just call me Trav. * * * “Despite my ghoulish reputation, I really have the heart of a small boy. | Deleted User | Hmm, someone I've never had in my party before, but yet I'll know who he is. Well obviously it's not Alistair. I’m intrigued. Guess I'd better keep moving on. Status: I'm only at the point now where we've rescued Varel and am now inside the throne room of Vigil's Keep with some new assignments. Only about four hours to get this far. I suppose I shouldn't have spoken badly on behalf of Mhairi since I've now lost her, clueless as I had assumed she would have survived the wardens ‘joining’ ritual. Crap, I hate difficult battles that automatically lead to cut scenes and vague dialogue choices. A mistake? Don’t know. Not quite sure how I feel about Anders with his past and beliefs. A powerful mage that at least for now seems reliable. Time will tell… Comments are always welcome. OK I now have a full party. (CB gets a sigh of relief wondering if and when he would aquire a rogue character to continue all the new quests that have been assigned). Party of four guys now. :-/ Ok, but the surprise I was talking about, comes a bit after you run into Oghren, in the form of someone you've never had in your party before, but yet you know who he is Would that be Nathaniel? If not just dish out a spoiler...please. On a quest cleaning out the VK dungeons right now. That's over for now but I still need to find three more keys to unlock the passage. The keys are called Spoiler AlertThe Lady, Korth, and Haakon. I guess they must be somewhere else. :-/ I'm really starting to think Anders might be gay, especially after that incident with the cat. Hmm, some special power mentioned with the kitten, time will tell at least for now. Hmm, 95% done and I still haven't figured that one out. Actually I had sort of forgotten about it. :-? Seems the darkspawn have some sort of superarchery weapon that causes dozens of arrows to seemingly drop from the sky. First time it instantly brought down two of my party. Lesson learned: spread your team out a bit. Judging from the quests I've acquired, looks like it's time to leave Vigil's Keep at least for now (those three key thingies still bugging me) and head off to get my first look at the city of Amaranthine. 8-) Guess I didn't need to worry about the keys after all. : Thinking earlier that I didn't seem to have all that much to do....well that has certainly changed. 8-) One thing about Amaranthine is that there's all sorts of stuff to buy and it can be tedious at times comparing merchandice with individual party members. :-X Met with the Dark Wolf and after seeing the thickness and length of his healthbar, I decided to cooperate with him on my behalf. I suppose there will be some sort of consequence but l know I'll just have to deal with that later. And so Spoiler AlertI did. Nice to see Wynne still out and about and looking well. Of course we'll add your request to our growing list of tasks. Just completed Ander's companion quest. In just under thirteen hours of gameplay I've almost maxed out his approval and gained all his subsequent rewards to his stats. I don't know, as much as I've done to support his stance in the game i.e keep him, I still seem to wonder if he has other intentions and worst case I just might have to deal with such. Oh well, I could be totally wrong...I usually am. About Oghren's rash, it's a touchy subject but darn I wish I could help. Moving on... I guess I messed up. Apparently I aided the smugglers even though I thought I was chasing them down and Constable Aidan says the City Guard no longer trusts us. > What goes around comes around. No more active quests in Amaranthine for the time being. Let's say it's time to go and look into who's behind that little conspiracy against me. Hmm, I don't even know these people. Spoiler AlertLord Guy and Lady Liza Packton Perhaps I should have put this off till later?? I suppose it could just be another boring quest :-/ Now onto the Black Marsh which seems to be one of the bigger areas in this expansion pack. Dangerous too. 8-) ........................other areas............more companions...........multiple boss fights.........high dragons. Scouting out the towers in Drakes Fall which I assume is the last location in the game. Overall, way WAY longer than I expected from an EP. |
