Status : Online | CSI: Deadly Intent is pretty good. It took me a while to get used to navigating the enviornment, and the game is very linear, but looking for clues and then analyzing them is always fun, and the cases can get rather interesting (although one of them had a plot-hole).
As for recommendations, I usually recommend the Blackwell series - strong story, great characters and pretty easy puzzles. The graphics are old-school but they have a lot of charm. You can buy all three for a discounted price: https://www.plimus.com/jsp/dev_store1.jsp?developerId=79845&language=ENGLISH¤cy=USD (look for the Blackwell Bundle).
About Nostradamus - have you played other Kheops games? They are all very much alike, however the best one in my opinion is Voyage. You can get most of them for $6.99 on BigFish. The kheops games are puzzle heavy, but the puzzles are usually fun and rewarding and allow for lots of experimentation.
Also, all Telltale games are easy and fun. I only played the Sam&Max series so far, but I've heard good things about Tales of Monkey Island (which I will play once it is finished, I don't like cliffhangers).

The CSI games aren't really 'adventure' games of course but there's something very satisfying about them thats hard to explain, probably because they have the best voice acting of any games on the market and the cases are actually written by the writers for the series.
The last AG I played was Secret Files 2, which was ok, but a bit 'blah'..There are so many interactive movie thriller type games now that they all seem to meld into one game.
I was seriously dissappointed to read that the last Dreamcatcher Agatha Christie game 'Peril at End House' was just a casual hidden object affair..I really liked Evil Under The Sun but there seems to be a growing trend to lure traditional AG players into buying something tha looks like a 'real' adventure game but just turns out to be a 'casual'. Although if its released by Big Fish that should be enough of a giveaway..

Hmm...- well, what makes them less of an Adventure, than say, - the Art of Murder games, or the Chronicles of Mystery Games?
Btw, have you seen there is a casual game proper out for the DS, called: Chronicles of Mystery : Curse of the Ancient Temple ?

The CSI gameas aren't 'proper' AG's in my opinion because you are so limited in what you can do. Its not like you find an object at a crime scene that only becomes useful/important several hours later in a totally different environment. Theres no codebreaking (well, there is, but the game does it for you), no combining objects to create a McGyver type 'thing' for solving a puzzle..No documents to read and make inferences from..basically all the stuff that you expect in a AG isn't there or is heavily watered down. There are never more than 4 locations to search and 3 suspects in a case. Once you have the clues there is usually only one thing to do with them to 'process' them and then its back for a quick chat with a suspect or possibly a look around a new location..Every case plays out exactly the same way, but like I said i really enjoy them anyway!

Sibera 1 & 2 are a little harder, but still easy as far as some of the games out.
I fyou have a Big Lots store near you, check out their game section. Sometimes they have older adventure games for very reasonable prices.

Status : Offline | I donīt know much about CSI as I only played a couple , but I will comment on the others you mentioned.
Chronicles of Mystery: Tree Of Life. I have been thinking of getting this myself for christmas. The previous installment was good but I found it to be WAY too short, so I am hoping tree of life will be longer. I might include this in the list but not a priority as itīs just an average game.
Cards of Destiny: I did not like Hunt, but I did like the first. Itīs a good enough series but again not much more than average in my opinion.
Still Life 2: I played it about half way through. Itīs very dark and borders on the survival territory, with a few timed sequences and lots of serial killer material. If you like this genre, add it to the list. If you expect a game in line with the first Still Life, donīt add this to the list!
Nancy Drew: I did think of getting this one, but not sure myself. As for the game being written for girls, I would not say it is. It just depends on what kind of story you are into, regardless of your gender. If you liked previous ND games, I am sure you will like this one as the graphics are even improved.
Nostradamus: Yes it was a bit short but the setting, atmosphere, story and puzzles more than made up for it! Itīs a game I still cherish fondly and would definitely recommend.
Murder In The Abbey: Lovely game! Good puzzles, great atmosphere and characters. If you like monastery mysteries, this one is super!
Other suggestions for your christmas list: Dark Fall Lost Souls is out! If you donīt know the series, I highly recommend it! Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the ripper: have not played it but can not imagine it will disappoint as the series is excellent!
Wishing you a happy christmas

Chronicles of Mystery: The Tree of Life - obviously no-one has played this yet, but it looks intriguing..any reason not to get this when it comes out?
Art of Murder: Cards of Destiny..the last AOM game was much better than the first so I am actually quite looking forward to this
Still Life 2 - looks like a bust according to the reviews, any dissenting voices here?
Nancy Drew Warnings at Waverley Academy The No1 selling adventure game on Amazon right now but er, I'm a man, this appears to be squarely aimed at a female audience and even though I have played a couple of ND games in the past and quite enjoyed them the setting and tone of this game don't seem comfortable for a male player
Murder in The Abbey - seems to have some mixed reviews but as I'm not averse to long conversations if the story is compelling (and I don't mind cartoon graphics) would this be a good game?
Nostradamus - The Last Prophecy..a bit short and easy by all accounts with an unsatisfying ending..so whats to like?

For my list I want to add on the latest Last Half of Darkness game:Tomb of Zofir, the next Carol Reed game & the next Darkfall one also. Whatever happened to the sequel to Cupla Innata?
