IMHO: I think it's chancy paying too much for the REAH DVD version as far as being a collector's item goes. For one thing, one of the REAH DVD releases was defective when it came out and for another, their doesn't seem to be nearly as much collector interest in DVD versions as there is for the CDROM versions.

The future ain't what it used to be!

I'm only saying it's not quite as good a collector's buy compared to the original boxed cdrom version. We'll see what that one sells for, but the last red REAH DVD sold on Ebay for a little over $100. On the other hand a red REAH boxed CDROM version in excellent condition will sell for over $150. One of them was listed for $230 on an online site but sold for less than that. The U.S. blue/green version boxed REAH in excellent condition will go for easily well over $100-$125 now.

(I have both red and blue/greem cdrom boxed versions in excellent condition so I've been following this closely
).

how much is the PC CD version worth?
I paid£10 for it.
Not that I will be selling it, but if its worth 1/4 of that I will be happy!

Well, I've been answering this question like I know what I'm talking about, but after seeing what the REAH DVD above sold for, I'm just guessing:

If you just have the jewel case, you may get anywhere from $40-60US for it; if you have the box in very good condition, then you may get as much as $150-250US.

The future ain't what it used to be!

Completed items (American eBay) reveals:
one boxed reah (red) $65; one boxed reah (blue/gr) $62; 1 CD $28; and another one (CD?) $30.

Of course I have no idea where real collectors hang out, or I would sell them the five lovely green Liaths that I bought for $3 apiece.

Betje, those guys at Free Record Shop must be surprised with all of those JA'ers buying their collection of LIATH's.
My package of 5 is waiting for me in store...

Pandora's Box for 5,99 is also quite cheap...

That is a good price for Liath. Do they ship overseas, I wonder?

Nope, they don't, but I do... If you're interested, drop a message. After all, I've ordered these 5 because they're so difficult to get in other parts of the world...

Yeah, just look at the number of Dutch sellers of Liath on American eBay.

Pandora's Box for 5,99 is also quite cheap...

Do you happen to know if it's the game of the year edition? (There's no picture on the site.) I already have the version with 350 puzzles, but I'd love to play the extra 50 puzzles too.

Betje, I'll look it up for you later. It's a DVD-box-version, maybe that tells you enough..

Betje- I've just started getting into Pandora's Box. Tried one of the first rotascope puzzles last night and my darn head was spinning. How did you find the puzzles? Did you finish the whole thing?

BTW: there's what appear to be some free download puzzle additions to Pandora's Box at (I haven't tried them yet):

SirDave, I found Pandora's Box to be a bit on the easy side. I finished the game in a few days. (Retrieving all pieces of the box...) I still have a bunch of puzzles that I can play but I hoped them to be much more difficult.  But I can't expect a new version of SmartGames here...

Once you get the hang of those rotascope things they're the easiest of all... I enjoyed those 'strip'-puzzles and the 'change the rectangle-contents' most (forgot the names...)

Yep, liked them very much. (Strange really, cause I never play jigsaw puzzles.) My favourite is Focus Point. Outer Layer en Jesse Strips were good too. I agree with Ron, the Rotoscope ones are fairly easy, once you've found the right strategy to line the pieces up. Hated Image Hole, used my free tokens to skip them.

Yes, I played the free demo puzzles too, cause they're my favourite Focus Points!

Ron: I don't think the DVD-style case is the one I'm looking for.

@Betje: The version Free Record is selling of Pandora's Box is not the one you're looking for: it says on the cover: '350 puzzles from the creator of Tetris'. So no 50 extra puzzles. I think it's strange that they are selling the game via their website for 5,99 when the price in my local Free Record shop was 4,99  ???

Anyway, you're right about those Image Hole puzzles! I hated those too!

Wow, I didn't know those Reah games were worth that much! I'll get down to the store on Monday and pick up a few more copies of it!

Well, getting back to the main subject, here's something else to gnaw on (ie. it isn't just Reah going thru the roof):

Where did you buy Reah? Don't tell me they've discovered another abandoned warehouse after the recent Liath flood! (You are in Holland, aren't you Wim?)
Liath is a rather bad game (but it's definitely worth more than 3 bucks), and although I haven't played Reah, rumor has it that one isn't earth-shaking good either. Maybe that's why they're rare... they didn't sell in the first place.

And thanks for the info on Pandora. I haven't seen any Pandoras at all in my local FR shop. No Reah either.

I'm actually from Belgium and the Free Record Shops I regularly visit (the two in Leuven and (to a lesser extent) the one in Wijnegem) are overflowing with copies of Reah, priced 2,99 Euro.

I haven't played it a lot but Reah is definitely better than Liath, although it's not a classic either. And it seems to be a lot bigger too (either that or it has more cut scenes) as it comes on 6 cd-roms. So, for 3 Euros,  you're certainly getting your money's worth!
