What is the longest you have taken to play a game?

ei. left it on your hard drive, started it, but other games were played
and finished first.

I finally finished And Then There Were None
(I hate to admit it, but it's been on my computer since it came out...)

I've had Grim Fandango on my system since 2006. And that's a reinstall for a game I was playing in 1998. And I'm not finished....

Four years.  Blue Ice was the game and it is the hardest game I have ever played.  There were 5 or 6 of us helping each other and one of them finally phoned the game creator to get hints.

It took me 5 years to play Lands of Lore.  I would start it, get stuck then put it aside for awhile.  Then I would restart, go further, get stuck...
I can't tell you how many times I started that game over, but I was determined to finish it and I finally did.

I sold the game soon after because I couldn't bear to go through all that again.  Now I'm sorry I did.  It was fun in an agonizing kind of way.

non-adventure game: Lemmings since it came out in 1991, last year I completed a mayhem level that puzzled me since 2002.
Very rewarding when you finally find the solution

adventure game: Secret Mission (Microids) took me 3 years to complete :-/

Deleted UserUm...  I don't think I ever properly finished Myst....
So I cannot say that it is the longest I ever took to complete a game, but I think it's my longest running "started-but-not-finished" game at the moment.  I guess it would be going on something like 6 years now...  :

Well, like Sharon I've been playing Betrayal at Krondor on and off for twelve years; I've yet to finish it, though.  Probably the longest running game I've actually finished would be Might & Magic: World of Xeen.  That one took me eight years, I think...

Daggerfall. It's been on my computer since I first got it, and that was 98! I still have not finished it tough.

Adventure games, I either finish within two-three weeks after installing them, or not at all.

I'm not sure if started, abandoned, but still installed counts. But I quit Zak McKraken many years ago after reaching a dead end about halfway through. Neither character could get the item they needed because it was in the other character's inventory and they were isolated from each other. It's probably the only dead end in the game, but I managed to find it. I'd have had to go back to a save almost at the beginning, and I wasn't really enjoying the game that much, so I quit playing it. I think it's still installed on my old 486 computer, but I can't remember much about the game.
