Could this poll have anything to do with porting Pieces of Eight?

No, you get other OS's such as BSD/Unix, SunOS, etc. You could also be running your own custom thing on any of your PC's/servers, etc. I agree that the poll should have allowed you to give more than one reply, since you could of course be running 2 or more OS's on your different systems.

One could also conceivably be running DOS (although this is becoming exceedingly unlikely), or an embedded system such as Symbian or iPhone OS (which is becoming increasingly likely). The possibilities are legion, these days.

But more recently, it's like the other companies are fighting back and you often see either Dell's or Sony Vaios in movies now.

The future ain't what it used to be!

Who knows, Apple might have thought of the clever marketing idea to supply the movie industry with free IT equipment.

Not just on screen SirDave, but behind the scenes a lot of creative types are still locked into the whole Mac thing.
That used to be true throughout the marketing / advertising / design industry too. But in recent years, more and more people in the field have migrated to Windows out of necessity.
This was mostly due to pressure from Windows-based business clients and simple economic reality, which also impacted the commercial printers, publishers, audio / video / photo studios, stock image houses, etc.
Now you are just as likely to find a top graphic artist, illustrator or animator working on a PC as a Mac and all of them have to interface with Windows users of every kind. So that tide has changed significantly.
Cheers, Terry

Yes, I know that to Apple's credit, they provided more advanced and (particularly) stable video/graphics applications on Macs before Windows. (I've been doing advanced video stuff under Windows since the late 90s and it took several weeks to get a stable suite of programs running and even as recently as 4 years ago, things were quirky with the new video apps I acquired. Also, setup a digital audio system under DOS in 1993 which allowed me to edit input from a portable digital recorder. That was a trip- the digital board was from Turtle Beach- bought the board as a demo from them at a computer show.) That probably gave them a leg up on getting them into movies (and probably in addition, Apple delivered a lot of free hardware to various people ).

The future ain't what it used to be!

Yes, I know - so that's good, is what I'm saying. :-* :-* Maybe my wording is a bit off. Heck, I've been a bit off the past few weeks... [smiley=zombie.gif]

I blame it on being a poker and not a typer though, my brain is "typing" faster than my poking fingers can keep up.

A poker eh? Wow, there are so many different ways that one could possibly interpret that.... (and I suppose I would always choose the wrong interpretation... [smiley=laughing.gif] )
Yes, I know, I also sometimes poke at my keyboard like it is some dead thing. -wait, it is some dead thing...

*grins* Ah, I see the title of the book now:
"TheTraveller and the Necromantic Keyboard"...
I do hope that you wash your hands afterwards, or at least before you eat...
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Ah, I see we have one lucky person whose keyboard is actually alive.... do keyboards make good company, Thaumaturge?
Oops , I think we're messing up poor Ivinia's thread.
Sorry Ivinia.
You'll have to sue me
Well, at least we're keeping the thread bumped for you....

No, I'm afraid not - terribly untalkative. *pats his keyboard* I like it anyway.
Oh well, different (key)strokes for different folks, I suppose. Very different sometimes. ;P  Which by no means necessarily a bad thing.)
You just wait until the Decepticons get wind of your techno-necromancy! What do you think that they'll think of your desecration of their sort-of-kin?
Okay, at least some of them might think "A cheap supply of unquestioning servants - I should remember that...", and a few will probably think: "Grr, kill squishy! KILL ALL SQUISHIES!". At least one might think: "I wonder whether Megatron is sufficiently distracted for me to shoot him in the back right now..."
*ahem* Yes, I'm done now. For the moment. ;P
On topic, I'm pretty sure that I voted for "Windows". Since that's what I have.
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
*ahem*
Sorry.

Sorry Ivinia.
No need to apologize my chatty one. But since we're talking about keyboards, I can't wait to get me one of those where the keys lights up. I'm always working/playing in the dark here. They're pretty pricey though at the moment. :-/

It looks as though it should be quite visible in the dark. ;P
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
*ahem*
Sorry.
