Status : Online | That's interesting - I've bought multiple adventures games from GameStop and often see ones I'm tempted to buy. I've purchased The Experiment, Missing 2, a Nancy Drew game and a Sherlock Holmes game from the GameStop I go to in Ohio. I think there have been others too. Perhaps you should try going to a different GameStop? They may carry different games.
Also, I looked at the GameStop website and it appears you can download some pretty decent adventure games and use your gift card to pay for them. You, like me, may not be a fan of digital downloads however

The adventure game selection has been pretty thin lately everywhere, it seems. You wouldn't be having any better luck at EB (I was there earlier today) or the like. It looks like we're just currently in a lull between waves of releases, and brick-and-mortar stores are moving away from stocking PC games in favour of console titles, which are less likely to be adventures.
You can presumably use your gift card to order online, where they probably have more selection, or if it doesn't expire any time soon, wait for a new release of something you actually want.

Good ol' Games - Cheap - NO *DRM!! GoGamer eBay Steam - requires client to download and play (*DRM provided by connecting to their service) Adventure Company - sells their games on their site. Just Adventure! - Some website about... something
Ugh, and stop buying games from Gamestop/ebgames. Their business practices.. the sooner they close the better.
* DRM = Digital Rights Management - ignorant crap that requires you to keep the disc in the drive just to play the game you paid for or some such nonsense
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here.

They do get in adventure games, The games "The Experiment" and "Culpia Innata" were there too along with several Nancy Drew adventure games.
Also, all the great DS adventure games were there - like Hotel Dusk and Broken Sword DC.

Right, I agree - GameStop these days caters mostly (almost exclusively) to the console-slinging kids rather than us PC AG players. But being that I also have a secret passion for off-road driving games (ever since I was 16 years old I wanted to drive a car but my disability precludes it) I invested in Drivers' Ed 99, 4x4 Evo, Hard Truck 2, and a Sidewinder racing wheel (bought this in 2001, it runs on win 98/XP, connects via USB) and today I went to GameStop at the mall and I found 2 racing games - Dirt for $7.99, and Sega Rally Revo for $9.99, both of which run on XP, and I used up my GS gift card to buy these.
While at the mall, I also ran into my friend who had given me this GS gift card for my birthday and I told her not to get me anymore GS gift cards because I no longer go to GS anymore to buy games, and she told me that she remembers that I told her this before and it stuck in her mind, so this time she did not give me another GS gift card. Instead, she gave me a Best Buy Reward Zone gift card, which I was happier to receive since I'm much more likely to find Corrosion Cold Winter waiting, DF Lost Souls, or Secret Files 2 at the local Best Buy store, right?
And BTW, I think Secret Files 2, DF Lost Souls, and Corrosion Cold Winter are going to get shipped to all the US stores sometime in Jan. 2010, or Feb.
