Well (long time ago) I couldnt finish "Full throttle" cause I couldn't solve the puzzle where you have to kick a wall exactly when a light turns on, or sth like that.  :-[

I then tried playing the game a couple of years ago but still, got stuck in that puzzle again!!!  :-/

My copy might have a bug or sth like that, i dunno.

It's the only classic adventure i haven't finished yet-  :-[

Sanp! I had exactly the same problem with Full Throtle. I swear I kicked every part of the damn wall and nothing happened. Gave up the game completely in the end.

If memory serves, near the end of Full Throttle there is a particular stone you have to kick to gain access to the factory.

Ah yes, here is an except from a walkthrough that sounds correct:

Spoiler AlertIn Corville, head round the back of the Factory and move over to the left side. Just right of the Meters is a pole; follow the line of that down to the ground, where it (figuratively) bisects a medium-sized stone. The stone just to the right of that is the one you want to kick when all four of the Meters have the black gap in the middle. Enter the opened up Hatch.

Cheers, Terry

I would have never finished Timelapse's arrow puzzle without the cheat. I've had to have my husband do many of the arcade games in the Nancy Drew games just to progress.
2 - Most musical puzzles, since I'm tone deaf.

I'm like you, Colpet - slow reflexes and 70 % hearing loss, even while wearing my hearing aids.

And in general I have problem with combination locks in games, because they usually work differently from the way they do in real life, and usually work differently between one game and another. For example, you may have to press a button after rotating the dial to the right number. So even if I've worked out the combination, the biggest puzzle is figuring out how to input the combination.

Oh my, opening the safe in Black Dahlia comes to mind! It was an unfair puzzle imo since afaik there wasn't enough clues in the game on how to proceed.

Oh, thanks for telling me! Now I'll know not to get Black Dahlia (tho I've been toying with the idea of someday getting it).

But you really should play Black Dahlia! It's a great game, one of my top five. Some of the puzzles are ridiculously difficult, but there are walkthroughs or uhs-hints to manage them. There are also many good puzzles and most importantly, a captivating story.

You mean no matter how hard it is to unlock the safe in BD, there's a w/t  that can walk me thru opening it (in that case, I'll consider getting the game some day)?

You find the exact solution for instance in the UHS-hints.

Just saw a description of BD on Amazon.com, and it says the game has something in it regarding the murder of Elizabeth Short. Frankly, I'm losing interest in murder mystery AG's, but will still keep these m.m.'s that I have so far; just don't plan on buying any more.

The last m.m AG I brought was Sinking Island at GameStop (local mall in W. Mifflin) this past Xmas 2008.

However, if BD stands out as something unique or very, very special from the remainder of the murder mystery AG's (both old and new) out there, I might consider getting it.

Black Dahlia is an exceptional game, IMHO. It is very long, encompassing 8 CDs. It's FMV, shot in black and white, and quite atmospheric. It has a fantastic variety of puzzles, most or all of which have cheat codes you can bypass if you are having a hard time.
It's one of my favorite games.

Deleted UserYup, I don't know if it was possibly shot in B&W and then coloured in (Quite possible) ; but the Black Dahlia I'm busy playing at the moment, is in colour.

..and yes, it is long. I've decided to try my best not to be impatient, and to just "go with the flow'.

Oh, and K515, there's a lot of murders in this game. It's a series of killings being investigated. People that had been chopped up, actually, so if you don't like that kind of thing....   :

Well, the colours are generally muted, and the visuals and setting is in a Noir style...

Thanks for telling me this, Traveler. I am sort of put off by finding a bunch of dead people who're all chopped up and in muted colors as well...hmmm, will most likely spend my money of Yoomurjak's ring instead.

whrew - already when I imagine me playing BD this brings to my mind something I didn't like in my past - standing on the sidewalk in one of the cities I used to frequent during my 20's while waiting for a bus and seeing a dead person (no real dead persons, actually, but something ugly such as a rotted dead fish at my feet that was partly eaten away) all chopped up at my feet on a dreary, gloomy, miserable (weather wise) day so that the colors of my real-life surrounds appeared muted. No, I definately won't get BD, no sir.

I don't remember seeing any chopped up people in Black Dahlia. You heard details about the murders, but I think the "chopped up" part was all offscreen.

It wasn't all that "muted" either. Most horror games I've played have much more "muted" colors. Some screenshots

Well I don't know - based on what I thought I'd find in BD and Jenny100's input, I still would like some definate proof that's there's no sights of dead/cut up people in this game. But still, I'm happy to know that it's in full color.

Have to think about whether I really want BD or not.

Sounds like it. I played both but only finished Noir. I really liked Noir and plan on replaying it. BTW, the reviews were horrible but that was just about the norm for any adventure game back then.

Deleted UserI was merely trying to figure out why Colpet remembered the game as black & white.  The transition between areas, shows a sepia screen, like the following one:

To be quite frank, the following images do appear to me in muted colours; that's just me though, not everybody is the same.

On the other hand, Jenny is right in that some of the areas definitely appear brighter, such as here:

So far, I have not seen any dead people yet, no. I was merely pointing out that the subject of the game is a murder investigation; K515 apparently was tiring of Murder Mysteries.

Ahhh...Teri Garr

I have always liked her but in Black Dahlia the developers must have had to get her drunk to read her lines as she was terrible. No kidding, good thing her part wasn't too big unless you keep going back to see if she sobered up.  Anyone else see this?? Despite this small flaw this game is on my Top Ten List.

Ahh - Black Dahlia. I don't recall a problem with the safe, but there was a "stained glass" puzzle that drove me to distraction. Totally unfathomable.

Ir any of you have not played BD, do so. It's a real classic.

Ugh.. -the "stained glass" puzzle.. - the problem with that puzzle is not in how to put it together, but in the fact that there has to be not the teeniest tiniest little chink left open anywhere; - and the puzzle pieces didn't "click" together like they do in most conventional videogame picture puzzles.  It took me more time to close the chinks once I had put the big picture together, than putting the big picture together did...

Nope, I don't think I'm going to want BD. btw some of the most frustrating puzzles in my games are 1 - RealMyst - the organ slider puzzle. Even with my hearing aids I have a hard time getting the tones right, so had to ask my (then) teenaged nephew to solve it for me, 2 - the chair-prison in Sarenia (foggy world) of Myst 4 - my reflexes were too slow to beat unlocking the 4 timed locks on that chair, so again had to ask my nephew to get me past this spot. 3 - the mangree puzzle (myst 4) - had to ask someone on GB to solve this (via email saved game sharing), and  4 - Keesa/Neesa (forgot her name, she's the 10 yr old girl in Myst 4), well, her memory puzzle at the end of the game - had again to have someone over on GB solve this for me.

How could I have possibly forgotten this one? I've just now finished re-playing Dreamfall, in which I've never been able to get April safely through that rune puzzle down in the troll caves.

No matter how many times I try, the big, bad, nasty troll always gets me.

During my initial playthrough this eventually put a big dent in my enjoyment of the game. I ended up snagging a saved game and bypassing the whole thing.

I've played the game several times since then, and I still haven't been able to beat that one puzzle/sequence.

See my portfolio of original artwork at http://home1.gte.net/res0b8zk/portfolio/resources/portfolio.htm

Refresh my memory, Karla?  I remember trolls and runes when Zoë is down in those caves, but I---oh, you mean that one!  Yeah, that sequence was a killer.  It took me many hours, actually, so don't feel bad.  :-*
