It's World war II: prisoner of war. It was the interface that was the telling part. I'm so sure of my guess (I compared it to a few screenshots to be sure), so I'll post another picture. It is also one of the few games that does not portray the German solders themselves as the "bad guys" (but their leader are still very much "bad guys" . In fact the game almost makes you feel bad about killing people. I cropped out the interface, as it was a bit too telling. Current Let's Play: Crusader: No Remorse

It's more recent than Rune though, and it plays rather similarly to your action RPG's like Sacred 2. ...and I played it under my previous "Traveller" incarnation, and posted about it back then... Mr Innocent AKA Nikofs2008 here from JA, also played it when I played it, and he played a female Grecian warrior in a different campaign of the game. It's an action RPG with 3 different campaigns from 3 different parts of the world.
