Stiler, the next picture is yours.

As for XerNosam, I've finally managed to place the picture. It's World war II: prisoner of war. It was the interface that was the telling part.

I'm so sure of my guess (I compared it to a few screenshots to be sure), so I'll post another picture.

This is an interesting game. It really shows the horrible side of war. It is also one of the few games that does not portray the German solders themselves as the "bad guys" (but their leader are still very much "bad guys"
. In fact the game almost makes you feel bad about killing people.
I cropped out the interface, as it was a bit too telling.

Here's one from a game I never got a chance to play. Hint - it's a sequel.

Did I kill the thread? It's a PS2 game released in 2005. The first game in the series was released in 2002.

That'd be Sword Of The Stars.  I only know three 4X titles: SotS, Galactic Civ, and Sins Of A Solar Empire... and that's only because my buddy plays them - I never have.  But, according to him, "Great game!"

I'll post a new one momentarily.

Playing: Skyrim: Dragonborn/Dawnguard; Torchlight 2; To The Moon; Far Cry 3

Finished: HomeFront; Far Cry 3; Dishonored

Always Playing: Half Life 2

Looking Forward To: BioShock: Infinite

Reading: BioShock: Rapture; SW: Revan

Sword of the stars is a great entry level 4X game, easy enough to be playable on easy with little or no previous 4X game experience, but deep enough to be worth playing through multiple times. You should ask your friend to lend it to you, because it is quite good.

Oh, and could someone take Stiler's place?

Trav, your pic seems "vikingish"... is it Rune, per chance?

Not Rune, but you're very close with the Viking thing. It's one of my own shots, so you won't find it anywhere online.

Heh, that explains why a quick search on Mobygames didn't seem to point to Rune... but I decided to give it a try, anyway!

Humm...then, how about a little help here... what kind of genre is this?

Well, you were very close with Rune, this is also action, leaning rather to the RPG side, fighting, (lots of it) and has a name that will remind one of the Vikings.  It's more recent than Rune though, and it plays rather similarly to your action RPG's like Sacred 2.

...and I played it under my previous "Traveller" incarnation, and posted about it back then...     [smiley=devil_smiley_grintail.gif]     [smiley=whistle.gif]

The game was released in 2007.  Mr Innocent AKA Nikofs2008 here from JA, also played it when I played it, and he played a female Grecian warrior in a different campaign of the game.  It's an action RPG with 3 different campaigns from 3 different parts of the world.   The name of the game is taken from the Norse campaign though.
