Deleted UserHi everybody

I've been dying to do a screenshot guessing game for "other games" that are not adventure games.  Let's have a ball of a time and make up the roolz as we go along (though preferably the less roolz the better, don't you think?
 )

I post, you guess..-you get it right, -you post another shot.. etc.   [smiley=hi_five.gif]

The spirit of this thread would be twofold:
1) Here you have an opportunity to introduce and showcase games that you have personally enjoyed in the past; so discussions are welcomed.
2)Besides that it will also be game similar to the screenshot Trivia games down in the AG trivia area.

The spirit of the thread will not be to post shots so obscure that nobody has a clue, although I really would prefer to not have strict rule-keeping as has been the case in the easy ID game down there on the Trivia board.

So I will simply extend a humble request that the spirit of the thread be taken into account.  The idea is to keep more or less to
"popular" games, but no formal criteria will be given regarding this. It can simply mean that you yourself enjoyed the game.

Furthermore, since "Non-Adventure" encompasses a very wide scope, and I do not want to restrict platform, it would be useful to include genre and platform along with your shot, as I will demonstrate below:

Ok, here goes..

Goody! Thanks for that, and yes, you are quite correct, of course.    [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Deleted UserI've only played a small handful of non-adventure types so my chances will probably be slim.  I'll keep an eye on it anyway.  Love hearing all the informative dialogue that is often the product of the exercise.

One suggestion though, change the name of the thread to something a bit more specific or chic.

Pardon the delay.  The game I wanted to take a shot from wouldn't install, so I had to think of a suitable alternative.  Behold:

It will be obvious to some, but probably not to all.

Deleted UserHa ha -we'll still sort out how things work in the thread, as we go along. It's supposed to be sort of like a game of "tag" ; -if you guess correctly, it's your turn to post, but if you don't have the time to post a shot in a reasonable time (like say, 2 or 3 hours,) then you can always give your turn away.

So theoretically, it would now be Avatar's turn to post, but since Karla has gone to all the trouble and her shot looks good, (and we're still busy finding our feet with this); I wonder if Avatar would be prepared to let Karla have this turn, and then he can have my next turn, when I'm "on"?

In any case, this game looks like "Obscure" to me.. -is that right, Karla?   (....and thanks for participating, btw.

Ooooooooops. Sorry about that. I guess this must be one of my bad brain days.

If that's not bad enough, the server that carries the picture I posted seems to be having a case of indigestion. Hopefully it'll be back soon, that nasty red "x" will disappear and the picture will once again be displayed.

And with that, I'll bow out of this thread with as much grace as possible for someone having an extreme case of embarrassment.  [smiley=embarassed.gif]

Gosh, I seem to be having a field day at insulting and embarassing people this last last day or so..   [smiley=cry.gif]
Please, please, don't feel that way, and please come back to the thread.. - Avatar has not even been in yet, and anyway, to avoid the thread lying fallow for days, when people cannot attend, I've thought in any case that a 16-hour rule should apply - if the appropriate person does not resond within 16 -24 hours, we just carry on regardless.

OMG, and I'm already feeling so rotten that I seem to have hurt poor Thaumaturge's feelings in another thread...   [smiley=cry.gif]   [smiley=cry.gif]  Maybe I should just stay in bed for a few days...

KAARRLLAA, PLEASE COME BAAAACKKK!!  WE LOVE YOU!   :-*     And what do you have to feel embarassed about? Nothing, honest!

PS, I can still see your picture nicely, Karla.     8-)

Might as well roll with it, it works since I am at work anyway.

Eek! now he's suddenly here..  sorry Avatar - we'll still get this all sorted out... just give it a few days, and I'm sure we'll sort ourselves out - the thread will fall into it's own natural rythm.   (I'm fervently hoping..

You didn't embarrass or insult me, Traveller! I embarrassed myself by doing something lame. I just hate it when that happens.

Don't be silly, Karla!  The more the merrier!  Anyway, we all make mistakes, don't we?  I should know.

Gosh, JKing, nobody could know as well as I do, - believe me...   :-[

..so hopefully we'll just all forgive one another, and just roll with it, ...and I owe you one, Avatar!

I'm glad to see that this thread seems to be taking off. ^_^

I am, however, waiting with anticipation for the next picture, since I've known each of these, as I recall, and not been here in time to guess!

Heh, I suppose that would depend who you include into the definition of "we"...  *wink, wink*

Aannyway - since we're still establishing the "rythm" of the thread, perhaps soon-ish would be a good time for Avatar to take his turn, if Stiler doesn't start showing up soon... - then I will be owing Stiler a turn a again...   :

.

I don't think that taking turns with a 16 to 24 hour time allowance per turn will help move this thread along very well.

What if we just posted interesting non-AG screenshots whenever we liked and let anyone guess what games they're from in their own time (or not at all).

That way an obscure stumper would not automatically stymie the thread and we would all have several screenshots to ponder.

That said, I just don't have the time right now to install old games and take custom screen captures. So the best I could do in any case is search online for existing screens of games I have played and post them here.

If more than one of us ends up posting images from the same title, that too would be okay. No big deal if for instance I posted a screen from the home vault in Fallout and someone else posted a screen from the post-nuclear wilderness.

Cheers, Terry

Edit
I agree.  Now that we've spent approximately two and a half pages getting through all the required 'administrative' details for this type of endeavor.

29 JUL 2009 at 9:43pm
Deleted UserHey, that sounds like a good idea, Terry, so both Avatar and Stiler can take their turns, and of course we can just link their names to their last shot posted.

Just to make sure that the thread doesn't become too crowded, though, we might want to make a general sort of ruling that we should not have more than 4 unanswered shots at a time, and I guess if we do things this way, it will be up to each participant to post hints if no one "gets" his shot - or otherwise his shot will simply get left behind - perhaps after, let's say 5 days of nobody guessing his/her shot, we'll declare it a dud and fill that slot with another pic?

What do the rest of you think?
